Meet the Fayre Team: Fernando Torres

Fernando Torres is a systems engineer, originally from Venezuela but now living in the US. As an entrepreneur with more than 16 years of professional experience in software development, he also has 9 years in blockchain technology, and 6 years in marketing, and is a Google Ads certified specialist. Fernando co-founded Fayre with Luis Carranza in July 2021. We sat down with him to talk about what inspires him in his job, and some of his favourite things

As well as software systems, Fernando also has a special passion for marketing, media creation, decentralisation and storytelling. “Combining these areas with my software development skills allows me to see all the various elements working effectively, so I can create complete solutions that help the business to succeed,” he says. The CTO’s multi-disciplinary approach is a big advantage in such a dynamic and fast-moving sector.

Fernando’s role at Fayre offers some interesting challenges, drawing together his knowledge of technology and marketing. Fernando explains: “I love the possibility of creating high-tech products for connecting brands with fans, through technologies like Web3 and NFTs.”

“From a marketing technology perspective, I’m also thrilled by the idea of transforming traditional marketing methods used by renowned worldwide brands, into new digital experiences that can bring more benefits for both the brands and fan base,” says Fayre’s CTO.

What is the biggest challenge that Fernando has had to overcome while working on this project? “Finding the right technologies and adapting them to comply with the brands’ requirements,” he replies.

Working in the NFT space, you’d expect that he owns some digital tokens himself. “Seussibles is my latest acquisition,” he tells us. “I love the concept of having a digital sticker album in the blockchain. I would like to own more NFTs that can bring utility both inside and outside the crypto space.” His favourite NFT artist? Beeple (well, what’s not to like?).

In his free time, Fernando enjoys reading, learning, building Lego and visiting theme parks with his son. “Becoming a father was the proudest moment of my life,” he tells us. “It was a life-changing moment.” He also likes playing the Monkey Island video games, watching Star Wars and Marvel series, and listening to the Spanish folk metal group Mago de Oz.

Fernando is very dedicated to his job, and right from the first moment when he wakes up, he tells us, he is already thinking about his daily schedule. Indeed, his favourite book is Token Economy: How the Web3 reinvents the Internet by Shermin Voshmgir.

As a last question, we ask Fernando what is his most important goal in life? “Providing happiness and prosperity guided by education and dignity,” he replies.
