The New Year brings in a lot of things, new calendar, new planner, and of course new resolutions. Creating resolutions and goals for the New Year can help you become a better person, it will keep vengeance and bitterness to enter in your life.

Think of it as an upgrade for yourself. Don’t get carried away though, because just by creating new resolutions for yourself isn’t going to magically transform you to be a brand new spanking person. This article is to help you create a foolproof plan, so you won’t fail your New Year’s resolutions.

Starting SMART can definitely help you complete all your goals for 2020. You’ve got your resolutions, now it’s time for you to use the most foolproof formula. We’re sure that most people are aware of the SMART formula, but we’re unsure if you guys know how helpful the formula is. According to the time management firm FranklinCovey almost one third of people fail their New Year’s resolution before the middle of January, and that is because they weren’t SMART.

S — Being specific and absolutely clear about your resolution will help you achieve it faster and more effectively. Specifically picking a goal that’s suitable for your personal needs will make the journey towards that goal less painful.

M — A measurable goal is great, because you can track the progress to reinforce you to stay on track. Take pictures or write down your progress to keep track of all of your achievements. Seeing the results will also motivate you to complete your resolutions.

A — It would be hard to have a resolution that isn’t achievable, because that would be pointless. Now that you’ve got your goal, you shouldn’t let the distance from the goal crush you. Break down your resolution into smaller pieces to move forward towards it, and you’ll know what the steps are to reach it. To challenge yourself, you should make each step just a little harder to give yourself a better chance at succeeding. For example, if you plan to open an online business in a month, then you’re just hallucinating. Instead, create smaller achievable steps to reach your big goal.

RRelevant resolutions will help your resolutions stick with you until the end of the year, if it’s not important to you then why would you bother to achieve that resolution? Personalize your resolutions to fit your life, just because someone else’s goal is to buy a house — doesn’t mean that you have to.

T — Make a schedule and stick to it, so you can be able to live the life you dreamed of. Creating a timeline to accompany your resolutions will help you immensely, because you can see and plan out how long it takes to reach your end goal. Your timeline can also be used to track your progress too.

This is your chance to become invincible this year! None of your resolutions will fail, instead they will stick to you like Velcro until 2020 is over. Although, don’t feel discouraged if you haven’t managed to check everything on your list. Just go back to the drawing board, and use the handy dandy SMART formula.
