Reasons Why a Company Should Start a Blog

In this day and age, running a business without a website is like planting a seed under a rock — it’s never going to work.

People turn to the internet to find almost everything, and you need to be there as their solution in order to thrive as a business.

If you already have a website, kudos to you, but you might need to take one more step.

A blog can greatly improve the value your website brings to your business. You might be scratching your head as to why so here are seven reasons your company needs to start a blog.

1. Strengthen Your SEO

Blogs are a powerful way to strengthen your website’s search value and put your page higher on the SERPs.

The higher your website ranks in Google searches, the more organic traffic it will get.

Blogs provide an easy way to incorporate the keywords you are trying to rank for. Since blogs have a conversational tone, you can easily add a sporadic sprinkling of words to help your main SEO strategy.

However, you should never use a blog to stuff keywords into your site. This will only turn visitors away. You should always focus on creating content that your visitors will appreciate and want to come back to.

Blogs also offer internal linking opportunities. Internal linking improves your SEO. It can also keep your visitors on your site longer, boosting your ranking even more.

2. Improve Your Marketing

By including information on your blog catered to your target audience, you’ll get your website in front of the people most likely to buy your products.

And when visitors find value in the information you share on your blog, they can be enticed to sign up for a newsletter.

In other words, you can use your site to build a list of email leads.

These email leads can then be nurtured with other content types that align with their position in the buyer’s journey.

Keep in mind, though, that your newsletter needs to include stellar content. Otherwise, it will feel like spam, and your subscribers will unsubscribe in a heartbeat.

3. Establish Authority

In this competitive market with many shady internet companies, it is vital to prove you aren’t some flimsy pop-up business trying to make a quick buck.

You can use your company blog to inform your clients or customers about your industry. By providing how-to guides, case studies, and useful information to your readers, you can establish authority in your industry.

If your readers consider you a go-to resource for the best information on your industry, they will be more willing to buy your products.

This is also a good opportunity to provide in-depth articles on your products themselves. Of course, you’ll have to find creative ways to get this to your readers without making it sound like a sales pitch.

4. Connect With Customers

As mentioned, blogs are written in a more personal tone than other website content. It’s more of a friendly chat to feel out where your readers stand than a pitch from your company.

Sharing your content on social media, linking to your email address at the bottom of each article), or including a comment box allows for customer feedback. Be sure to invite your customers to comment or share their thoughts.

You can learn a lot from the discussions on your blog about how to improve your business. You can learn even more when you take an active part in these conversations.

5. Gain Social Status

Social platforms are consistently growing in popularity. You need to use these platforms in a natural way. Ads seem forced, but blog articles with an authentic tone can strengthen your brand.

It is vital that all of the content that you post on your account is helpful and shareable. If the right people share your article, it could even go viral.

6. Establish Trust

Your blogs should address common concerns faced by your customers. You can write articles and other content that put your customers at ease by offering solutions to their problems.

You can learn about these concerns from the comments they post or the questions they ask on your blog. Be sure to pay attention to the threads — if a question appears more than once, you should definitely address it on your site.

Because if more than one person is asking it on your page, it means other people have the same problem. By providing the best solution, you may be able to drive traffic to your site (and get your brand in front of new people).

7. Good ROI

In business, it all boils down to numbers. When deciding on the viability of an action, the question is always “What is the return on the investment. Is it worth the time and effort?”

Blogs increase conversion rates and allow you to nurture your leads through every stage of the buyer’s journey.

Blogs are an easy way to reach a large number of people. According to Hubspot research, companies with blogs get 55% more visitors.

This, in turn, can increase sales.

Conclusion

The data can’t be ignored. Blogs are a great investment of time and money for any company, no matter what industry.

They are simple to add to your website, and with a little planning, can turn into one of your company’s main marketing outlets.

While paid ads may seem like the best way to improve your sales, blogs are a proven contender (some might argue better).

An excellent company blog can do more than just put your product in front of customers — it can improve your customer relations, boost your marketing efforts, and improve your SEO.

If you have yet to start a company blog, now is the time!
