New Rule: All Children Are Called “They/Them” Until They Can Choose for Themselves
It’s time to drop gender completely and let kids be kids
Is it wrong to impose genderless pronouns on all children until they can choose for themselves?
If you answered “yes,” then I would counter that it must also be wrong to impose gendered pronouns on newborn babies based solely on the presence of a penis or vagina.
After all, Mother Nature determines biological sex, but society invented gender — we know now that the two don’t always line up neatly.
Things have gone too far
We’ve gone way too far down the path of extreme gendering, beginning in utero, sometimes even being celebrated at erroneously named “Gender reveal parties” in ever more obnoxious, dangerous, even deadly ways. And that’s only the beginning of the gendered boxes we shove children into throughout their lives.
It’s time to put a stop to our harmful practices. We’re unwittingly putting pressure on very small humans to conform to our prescriptive gender roles before they can even talk.
