Quarantining While Single

I’ve seen so many people saying how the COVID-19 social distancing and self-quarantine are strengthening their families. They’re playing board games, having outdoor family time, eating dinner together every night, talking more, and getting to know one another better. In distancing from others, they’re growing closer as a unit. It’s a beautiful thing.

This is a silver lining surrounding the madness of our new normal.

While others have partners, children, and roommates to spend extra time with, it’s a bit different when you’re isolated from all human contact. Perhaps some have an animal companion, but those single and childless are in complete quarantine by default.

Normally, going to work, out on dates, or visiting with friends is where you get needed socializing when single. Now, those options have suddenly been removed for many of us. The majority of days are spent in an empty, quiet home. You sit alone. Even if you go out to the store or a park, it’s just you.

In times such as these, you may realize even more the fortune of having healthy relationships, an in-house support system, and someone with whom to share life’s journey. You can see other people — maybe even…
