What Feminism Forgot to Do
If you hate feminism, this is for you. If you’re a feminist, this is definitely for you.
Feminism is important.
If you cringe ever so slightly at that statement, this is for you. If feminism angers you, this is for you. If feminism confuses you, don’t worry — it confuses many — and this is for you. And if you’re a feminist, this is most definitely for you.
If you care about any social movement, any act of influence (hey — even sales and marketing), this is for you.
I won’t re-establish why we need feminism, I won’t convince you to care. I won’t bash the patriarchy. No, in fact: bashing the patriarchy is the first mistake feminism makes.
I will explain why social movements should do the very thing that bothers them the most and will explain why they avoid it. I will explain why feminism makes you cringe, why it makes you angry and why it confuses you.
I will explain what feminism forgot to do.
If you identify as a feminist and find yourself thinking, oh god. Another woman placing blame on herself, she’s stuck in the patriarchy. Doesn’t she know this isn’t her fault?
