X-Men Star Comes Out as Trans, Offering a Message of Hope and Acceptance to Millions
The 'Juno' actor now goes by Elliot Page, and they have amazing things to say about identity and privilege.
It was a beautiful thing to wake up and hear Elliot Page’s public announcement that he is/they are transgender, while also identifying as non-binary, going by the pronouns he/they.
As a Canadian, the Elliot Page has been a gem of my country since their debut in the film ‘Juno’, portraying a troubled teen navigating an unexpected pregnancy.
This was even more the case for my own province, as Elliot Page was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
I’ve watched for years as Elliot Page has moved forward in their unapologetic view of their own self, identity, and life.
First coming out as bisexual several years ago, having a public LGBTQIA figure in Hollywood from Canada was such an encouragement for any person who has explored and put a finger on their own identity publicly.
Another glass ceiling was shattered Tuesday when Page posted an announcement on their Instagram page coming out as trans.
