Feeling anxious, stressed or nervous? Eat something

It’s pretty much as simple as that.

The next time you’re feeling anxious at work (so probably later today), stop and go eat something.

The next time you’re feeling short-tempered and having clouded judgment, grab a snack bar. Snag a piece of fruit. Whip up a peanut butter sandwich.

It doesn’t have to be gourmet. Heck, you don’t even have to really be hungry. Just scarf it down and wait a few minutes.

It’s important to understand something here: you’re feeling anxious, nervous or stressed because of your body, not necessarily because of your situation or surroundings. Your blood sugar is low and your body is doing an internal freak-out.

So food is the best way to fix this, preferably something substantial with protein and healthy fat. I fill my desk with a stash of RX Bars.

Feeling anxious or overwhelmed, especially at work, might be as simple as a quick snack and 10-minute break. And the same goes for breakfast. Get out of bed and eat something, even if you’re not hungry. You won’t regret it.
