What: Please let us customize the order of articles on our profile page and note which Collections we actually started.

Why: It would be nice to have more control over our first impression on Medium. Having one person recommend an article doesn’t mean it’s necessarily better or more relevant than all of our other articles. And recent articles aren’t necessarily better or more relevant.

Why Not: Consistency. Simplicity. Elegance.

Why Anyway: I’m guessing this feature is a matter of when, not if. But if not: there are many ways to go about this without causing any confusion or removing simplicity or elegance. Quickest approach: Add a fifth section (identical in design to the others) to the top of the profile called “Featured By $Name” to let us pick our favorite posts to show visitors above the automatically curated sections. More complete approach: Add that fifth section, but also let us reorder or remove sections the way LinkedIn does. It would also be nice if you somehow featured the Collections we actually started, as right now there’s no way of knowing the difference between Collections we contributed to and those we started without navigating into each one.
