Let’s Create a Bar Chart Race Using Flourish App.

What is Bar Chart Race ?

The animated bar chart race helps you visualise the change in trends over time, these type of charts are very popular on social media as they provide a holistic data story/insight in a concise and easy to understand chart.

Step 1:

Create Flourish Account.

Step 2:

click the “New visualisation” button.

Step 3:

Open the Bar Chart Race Template.

Step 4 :

Click on ‘data’ on top left of the visualisation to view the data used for current visualisation.

to upload data.

To upload your data, click on ‘upload data’ and select the file(Excel, CSV, TSV, JSON, GeoJSON) to upload and click OK.

Here we are using ‘data.csv’ file as our data.

Step 5 :

After uploading the csv file we have to mention the ‘Label,Values,Categories,Image ‘ with respect to our uploaded data.

Step 6 :

Change the mode to “preview”. To see your visualisation !

Here is our bar chart race!.

You can also customize your chart like ‘Number of Bars, Bar Colors, Layout of the chart, Length of timeline etc.These options are available on the right side of the visualization.

Step 7: Publishing the Visualisation

Once you are happy with the visualisation, it can be published just by clicking Export and Publish. You can also get embed link which can be used to embed the visualisation in your website.

Successfully we’ve created our bar chart race using Flourish App.
