This July it will be the 3th year of my working career as a digital designer. I started my career at iDA Mediafoundry as an intern untill the point where I am now.

My first operating year was a difficult one. As a young graduate I was still trying to figure out which path I wanted to walk. Would it be only design or a combination of design and front-end development?
But soon when several design projects where entering, my choice was made very quickly. It seemed to me that I am Born for design.

Our design projects started very small by making branding material for iDA Mediafoundry itself and our group company, Xplore Group. Sooner or later this work became visible to other companies within Xplore Group.

Xplore Group is an IT consultancy company with numerous of companies in it. Each and every one of them with its own specialty. iDA Mediafoundry for example is specialised in creating online experiences with Adobe Experience Manager.

Eventually, one year later it all kickstarted. I received the opportunity from Forward, to re-design the e-commerce website for Brantano (A large shoe retailer in Belgium).

Thanks to the collaboration and trust I received from my 2 coordinators, Bert and Steven from iDA Mediafoundry and Forward, I’ve managed to learn a lot about e-commerce in a short period of time. Later on I also started working as a UX designer consultant for Signify, formerly known as Philips Lighting. This environment is focused on the B2B market. These kind of projects seemed to work out so I decided to focus designing e-commerce websites for a B2B and B2C environment.

One year later, my 2 coordinators, and I decided to scale up the team. There was already one existing designer/developer within our team, Astrid. The past year when I was creating the Brantano website she was responsible for a project where she had a kind of webmaster role. Partly design, partly development. But trying to reach out for new projects with only 2 designers wasn’t enough. Later on, a good designer profile contacted us that caught our eye. And so Jonas was found, the 3th designer within the team. Sooner or later Anne attracted our attention and became our 4th member.

As a team we try to focus on creation, by rolling out consistent and effective design, and innovation by bridging the gap between design and development.

The moment we hired Jonas I found out that the business we are into is something I want to focus on for the upcoming years. On that note, I had a talk with my 2 coordinators, Bert and Steven and asked them if they wanted to support me within this journey of establishing a business.

This leads me to where I am now. Yesterday I revealed my business as a true company, named Fectiv.

Fectiv is a digital design studio, creating consistent and effective web- and e-commerce platforms by bridging the gap between design and development. At the moment we want to reach ,out to as many people as possible who want to know more about us. Don’t hesitate by mailing us or visiting our website.

Be more effective with Fectiv.
