Influencer and renowned founder beats crypto YouTuber Justin “Jchains” Custardo by Technical Knockout in 2nd round of his long awaited blockbuster fighting debut

UNITED STATES: Infamous Fyre Festival Founder and influencer Billy McFarland was crowned winner at this year’s Karate Combat Influencer Fight Club at Consensus 2024. It’s the first time the conference, now in its 10th year, has operated a fighting ring and invited social media and TV stars from the world of cryptocurrency to have an all-out showdown. Consensus is the world's largest crypto currency, blockchain and web3 conference. Taking place at The Austin Convention Centre, today marks the final day of what was a hugely successful event.

Consensus’ influencer fight club pits the most influential names in the blockchain space against each other in an exhilarating full-contact, head-to-head karate match. Yesterday’s highly anticipated fight saw Fyre Festival Creator and ex-convict Billy McFarland enter the ring with crypto YouTuber and influencer Justin “Jchains” Custardo. The even was attended by a number of celebrities including UFC Commentator and Podcast Host, Joe Rogan, Comedians Shane Gillis and Tony Hinchcliffe as well as Ben Lamm and Chris Williamson.

Making his dazzling fighting debut at Karate Combat 46, McFarland knocked Custardo to the mat in round 2 securing the win by Technical Knockout. McFarland, most well known for his involvement with the infamous Fyre Festival (which was documented on Netflix) had trained for weeks with British Muay Thai champion and MMA coach, Phil Nurse in preparation for the fight. Speaking after the event, Billy pledged to use a portion of his winnings to repay his Fyre Festival investors and settle some of his $26 million debt.

The four-hour event left onlookers blown away at Consensus 2024 with attendees treated to nine professional karate fights and four influencer bouts including matches between Belly vs Lauren Sweeney, Tech "TKO" Hustler vs Tactical Investing and May Rocket Chan vs. LykaBoss Reed. What is cryptocurrency?

Cryptocurrency is a digital, or virtual, currency that uses cryptography for security and is decentralized, meaning it is not controlled by any government or financial institution. In basic terms, it is digital form of money that you can self-manage and is very similar to the current methods of online banking.

The most well-known cryptocurrency is Bitcoin* (2009), but there are many others: Ethereum, Litecoin, etc. All cryptocurrencies use Blockchain** technology to securely record and verify transactions in a digital ledger, with majority of them being public. There are few, however, that go a step further to disguise the addresses in their ledger and provide a higher level of security.

To use a cryptocurrency, just like a wallet for your dollars, you need a “digital wallet” to store your coins and send or receive. Currently, the most common ways to buy/sell cryptocurrency are through various exchanges and/or peer-to-peer transactions. Other methods can include being a merchant that accepts cryptocurrency or learning about buying and selling NFTs*** (Non-Fungible Tokens). Much like the current markets (stock, forex, etc.) the value of any cryptocurrency is determined by supply and demand on exchanges, and from the people supporting the projects in the ecosystem.

Cryptocurrency has gained a lot of attention in recent years due to its potential to revolutionize the way we think about money, finance, and how humans transact. What is a blockchain?

A blockchain is a decentralized, digital ledger that records transactions across multiple networks on computers across the globe.

What is Bitcoin?

Miami Florida, a vacation spot for some, or the up-and-coming cryptocurrency capital of the world for crypto heads.

June 2021 was a month full of festivities, from community meetups to the largest Bitcoin conference in history! There were dozens of events to choose from, however one stands out in particular, charmingly named Shitcoin 2021- and that’s no typo! On June 3rd and 4th, Shitcoin 2021 was held in the heart of Wynwood, conveniently located down the street from Bitcoin 2021. The real question is why did this happen?

Kenn Bosak had a bright idea when some of his friends were turned away from sponsoring the largest crypto event the world has seen… so “we’re gonna do our own conference, and we’re gonna call it shitcoin- because everything that is not Bitcoin to a maxi is a shitcoin”.

One month later, Shitcoin was manifested. Shitcoin 2021 was created to highlight inclusivity within the crypto space. Ironically, there were even some Bitcoin maximalists speaking at the event. Some notable mentions included: Tone Vays, Bitcoin Vegan, and Paul Sztorc. Bitcoin maximalism has its reputation, to some it’s a form of supreme sound money, to others it can be seen as harsh and toxic. The truth is there’s absolutely nothing wrong with Bitcoin maximalism, what’s wrong is the exclusive environment that certain individuals create that discredits hard-working and valid projects in the space.

The event that started off as an inside-joke that became a reality thanks to an enormous amount of community effort. Featuring over 50 speakers; from the NFT The Movie panel with Jeff Crane, Kenn Bosak, Miggy Crypto, Jack Storm, and Nathan Love- to A very intense law panel with Bitcoin Khaleesi, Jason Seibert, and defendant Nathan Hulk. 25+ sponsors and contributors participated from companies like Matter FI, Vy Finance, IllMind, and Shiba Inu. The venue was packed with passionate community members. Other notable mentions include the Haha for Hire comedy show with Mike Salvi’s entourage, Featuring Sam Tripoli; Flote Token Public Sale Taco Party; and Meow DAO Pizza Happy Hour (this event was very much worth attending).

The best part of all, the entire event was donation based: General Admission, Sponsorships, and Booths! All funds were generated through donation prior to June 1st. Attendees were able to purchase tickets for as little as a dollar and can donate as much as they want to support the cause. Shitcoin 2021 brings back the grassroots movement within the crypto industry. The event was a place for a community to come together and become friends, even family; where ideas and cultures mixed, collided, and created a synergy that is so needed in this crypto/NFT space. Our goal was to not only highlight the variety of great alt-coin projects backed by great people who are looking to make a change in the world, but also to provide a safe and loving space that anyone would be free to be themselves and connect with others on a very personal level to speak life… not just cryptocurrency. What was accomplished at Shitcoin 2021 will soon come to light in a big way that will prove to the world what the REAL crypto community is about. Wherever a Bitcoin Conference is, you can be rest assured Shitcoin won’t be far behind…
