Money is something we all want. We believe we won’t survive without it. In this society, does money truly affect your personality? From my beliefs to people who I have interviewed, say money does affect people. Money puts this influence on people to think they are better because they will be able to get whatever they want. Kids now get spoiled when they are younger by their parents buying them what they want. When you spend the money and don’t spend it on things that will help you grow in life, those things will make you happy, but it won’t last forever. Spending the money on positive things that help you grow can make you happier and give you what you need, will make your life more positive. The negative might make you have bad attitude towards people. It will start to show that you are ungrateful and aren’t appreciative of the money have.

The money becomes a source for your happiness. Everyone always says, “Money buys happiness,” but spending it on the negative things that can’t help you grow don’t give you happiness.

What are the positive and negative ways in spending money? The positive way of spending money is spending it on things that will be able to help you grow. If you want to continue to become more educated in life, then you pay for schools or items that will help you learn more. Even when you are younger and you want to play sports, you ask your parents to put you in clubs and teams. By paying for those clubs, you can play what you want to do in the future. The negative ways of spending money are spending it on things that won’t help you grow. The things that won’t help you grow is things that aren’t able to make you happy. We usually will walk into a store and see something that we want. To be able to save money we need to start spending it on things that we really need to grow. We always need to have food to be healthy, clothes, and a place to live. The way we think is, I have enough money to buy this so I’m going to buy it and we keep saying that to ourselves which makes us spend money. Since some people in this world have more money than others, we want to buy whatever because we have this mindset of it won’t change anything and you can work to get that money again.

In my interview I did with Ana Brender, who is a teen in middle school. One of the questions I asked is, “How does money affect you?”, she answered with saying, “I think money affects me because sometimes I think that I’m entitled to everything just because I have enough money to buy something.” Other people like Febe Wasserman have said “Money affects me because sometimes if you have money you don’t have to worry about paying for things, with problems, like parents worry and save up to pay taxes etc.” Money affects adults because they have to worry more to make sure to pay for the things that they need to live, meaning their shelter, food, education, and many more. Money changes adult’s personalities by them acting like the can do better. For example, if you have a higher job than others, it makes you feel like you are better because it’s easier for you to pay for things because of the way you make money.

Money has a way to influence anyone, but you might not realize it. When does money start having an influence on you? In my poll that I sent out, 10 middle school 8 of the students said “yes” to money affecting you as a kid. The way money starts affecting you as a kid is because based on the way your parents raise you sometimes, they spoil you, which then gives you a mindset of that you can get whatever you want and whenever you ask for it. When you become older than you start learning how it works when it comes to spending money. You start to feel more better than others because you realize you just got what you wanted. So, when those kinds of people grow older most of them still have that effect on them from when they were younger. Becoming an adult, you start paying bills, rent, taxes, and buying things you need for yourself to live.

Money has a positive and negative side to it. Learning to spend your money the right way, on things you need instead of things you want. It ends up helping you by showing people that money doesn’t affect you. Money doesn’t need to affect you by having it and being able to spend it over and over. When you start spending it on the positive things you will become happier. Before you buy think about it. If the item will make you happier or if it’s going to cause you to have an attitude because you’re just going to want to show it off, to then show people you are better. Even though you believe that the product is going to make you happier it might not. Get out of the mindset you had as a kid if you were able to buy whatever you wanted and become more grateful for what you have.
