With decades of experience in diagnostic and procedural cardiology, Dr. Christopher Mallavarapu provides advanced cardiac care for patients in the Olean region. He is affiliated with Olean General Hospital and Northern Maine Medical Center, where he works closely with hospital teams to diagnose and treat complex heart conditions.

Education & Training

Dr. Christopher Mallavarapu earned his Doctor of Medicine from the State University of New York Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn, NY. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, where he developed a strong clinical foundation in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease.

Following residency, Dr. Mallavarapu pursued advanced fellowship training at the University of Pennsylvania Health System. There, he completed fellowships in Clinical Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology. This training provided extensive exposure to cardiovascular diagnostics, catheter-based procedures, and complex interventional treatment strategies.

Board-Certified Cardiologist

Christopher Mallavarapu is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Interventional Cardiology. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI). In addition, he holds certification from the Council of Nuclear Cardiology, reflecting additional expertise in cardiac imaging and diagnostic evaluation.

Dr. Mallavarapu’s clinical work focuses on diagnosing and treating coronary artery disease, heart rhythm disorders, and other cardiovascular conditions. His practice includes diagnostic coronary angiography, stress testing, electrocardiography, echocardiography, and other cardiovascular assessments used to evaluate heart function and blood flow.

Interventional Cardiology

As an interventional cardiologist, Dr. Mallavarapu performs procedures designed to restore circulation in patients with blocked or narrowed coronary arteries. These procedures include angioplasty and coronary stent placement, which are commonly used to treat patients experiencing heart attacks or severe coronary artery disease.

At Olean General Hospital, Dr. Mallavarapu works within a program that provides advanced interventional cardiac catheterization services through collaboration with Kaleida Health’s Gates Vascular Institute. This partnership allows patients in the region to receive specialized cardiovascular procedures close to home.

Throughout his career, Dr. Mallavarapu has performed more than 12,000 cardiac catheterization procedures. This extensive procedural experience reflects decades of hands-on work in cardiac catheterization laboratories, treating patients with acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions.
