GDG Babcock Data and AI track is hosting a hackathon startin January 6th, 2025.

The name of this hackathon is called GDG Babcock Chatbothon!

Our hackathon is sponsored by none other than Ready Tensor.

We’ve created this blog to provide all the information you need to sign up, participate, and win this hackathon.

GDG Babcock Chatbothon

A chatbothon is basically a ‘hackathon’ but for chatbot solutions only.

Voice-enabled chatbots, RAG chatbots, chatbots that carry out commands and actions, multi-modal chatbots, AI agents in the form of chatbots, and so on, you name it!

In this chatbothon, what you have to build is simple — A chatbot that solves a real-world problem and is built with any NLP or LLM technology.

Technologies like Langchain, Llama, Open AI, NLTK, and many more… all welcome!

Now, before we go over the rules, prizes, and whatnot. Let’s learn a little about our sponsor.

Rules of Participation

Here’s the deal:

1. Each individual and team member must be at least 16 years or older to participate in this hackathon.
2. Each individual/ team may submit only one project. If an individual is part of a team, he/she cannot submit another entry individually.
3. Each team must have a leader/ representative who makes a submission on the team’s behalf. The team leader must include the names and emails of all team members.
4. Each team must have less than 10 members
5. Each submission must be a chatbot idea with full UI and NLP/ LLM capabilities.
6. Each submission must be deployed and be accessible as a live web application.
7. Each submission must have documentation for their project which should be published at https://app.readytensor.ai/models/create/
8. All team members and individual applicants must be registered members of GDG Babcock.
9. Do not use any data or asset in your solution without proper permission.
10. All solutions must be authentic and original.

UPDATE: Creating your Documentation for the Chatbothon

Ensure your documentation is under GDG Babcock Hub in Ready Tensor.

Follow the steps below:
1. Create an account on Ready Tensor: https://app.readytensor.ai/
2. Sign in to your account
3. Click on ‘Hubs’ in the menu bar above.
4. Click on ‘GDG Babcock’
5. Click on ‘Request to Join’ (You’ll automatically be added by clicking this)
6. Click on ‘Start publication’ on the menu bar.
7. Select ‘GDG Babcock’ as the publication hub
8. Fill in other details and add content to the publication
9. Publish the documentation

Depending on the volume and quality of the submissions received, there will be a minimum of 3 winners and a maximum of 8 winners in the GDG Babcock Chatbothon.

Judging Criteria

1. Documentation

• Is the documentation detailed?
• Is the documentation published on Ready Tensor?
• Does the documentation correspond with the project?
• Is the documentation easy to read/ understand?

2. Technological Implementation

• Does the project demonstrate quality software development?
• Does the project leverage any NLP or LLM technology?
• How is the quality of the code?
• Does the project meet the expected requirements?

3. Design

• Is the user experience and design of the chatbot UI well thought out?

4. Potential Impact

• How big of an impact could the project have?

5. Quality of the Idea

• How creative and unique is the project?
• Does the concept exist already? If so, how much does the project improve on it?

6. Quality of the presentation during the Grande Finale live event

How to Participate

Registration is free and open from January 6th to February 5th, 2025!

Once you’re done building your chatbot solution and creating your documentation on Ready Tensor, submit your project with this link.

Deadline for Project submission: February 5th, 2025.
