If you’re interested in becoming a Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador (MLSA), this guide will walk you through the step-by-step process to apply successfully.

Eligibility Requirements

Before you begin, ensure you meet these prerequisites:

1. Age: You must be at least 16 years old.
2. Enrollment: You must be a full-time student at an accredited academic institution (college or university).
3. Individual Application: Applications must be made individually, not as a group.
4. Microsoft Affiliation: You cannot be a Microsoft employee or current contractor.

Steps to Apply

Step 1: Create and Log In to an Account

Visit the official website at MLSA Portal and create an account. If you are selected, you’ll receive a new Microsoft account for the program.

NOTE: It can be “any account” as if you get selected into the MLSA Program you will get a new Microsoft Account.

Step 2: Start Your Application

Begin your application here: MLSA Application Portal.

Pay attention to the “Registration Notifications” section. It explains the process after registering, including joining the Microsoft Student Developer Community on Discord. Additionally, it highlights key information for F-1 visa students and the quarterly announcement of application results based on submission timelines.

Step 3: Accept Privacy and Terms

Read and agree to the program’s privacy and terms to proceed.

Step 4: Provide Personal Information

Fill out your details, including your preferred programming language.

Tip: You don’t need to be proficient in the language you select. Choose a language that interests you or one you plan to learn. For example, if you’re new to programming but want to explore Python, feel free to choose it.

Step 5: Add Your Social Media Profiles

Include links to your social profiles such as LinkedIn, Twitter, and GitHub.

Suggestion: Even if your GitHub profile is empty, it’s okay to include it. Just ensure you format the links correctly.

Example:

• Instead of pasting the entire URL, write only the username (e.g., linkedin.com/in/username).

Correct Format- Just remember that you don’t have to paste the complete profile link but just complete it as shown below.

Step 6: Academic Information

Provide details about your academic institution. Being a full-time student is a mandatory requirement for the program.

Step 7: List Your Interests

• Select the technologies you are interested in learning about from the dropdown menu (various options will be provided).
• Enter the Display Name of your Microsoft Learn account. If you don’t have one yet, no worries — you can create one using the provided link.
• Complete the last question, and you’re all set to finish the process!

Step 8: Review and Submit

Double-check your application for any errors or missing information, then click Submit.

After Submission

• If your application is accepted, congratulations! You’ll become a Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador and start an exciting journey.
