Made you click! This is just a quick tip for anyone doing full stack work with React and Python struggling with poor PyCharm performance.

Find Action with Command + Shift + A.
Type “Edit Custom VM Options”, hit enter.
Set -Xmx to ≥ 2048m.

These settings work well for me on a 2017 Macbook Pro using PyCharm 2017.1.5.

Functional Swift

I spoke about functional programming in Swift at the LA Swift meet up today. Here’s a link to the slides.

It was really cool to meet other people interested in the functional aspects of Swift and really awesome to see some working Swift apps. Exciting times indeed!

Hello World

This is a throwaway first post. Just testing out Medium’s WYSIWYG editor (which is quite nice) and embedding content.

A few minor things I dislike about Medium so far:

No syntax highlighting on code snippets
Post URLs could be prettier.
Profile URLs use /@username instead /username, which I’m not a fan of.
Requiring a Facebook or Twitter account to post.

I do like the minimalism of Medium and most of all: theres a good share of interesting people posting here.
