As I’ve come to realise, travel is one of the most powerful catalysts for growth as it keeps you on the edge; boy, did I have questions: “Is this where the phone thieves are?” “Is there knife violence here?” “Is this where the gangs of London live?” endless contemplations and ponderings gauging the news vs reality, my head was forced to think; my time in London was no different from my time in any strange place at first. It offered moments of discovery that transcended the physical experience, pushing me to reflect on how I’ve grown and what that means for my career.

Stepping Out of Comfort Zones

London is a city that never stands still, and neither do its people. Being immersed in this fast-paced environment encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone, to adapt and embrace the unfamiliar. Whether it was navigating the Tube during rush hour without a map or engaging in conversations with people from different cultural backgrounds, I quickly learned the importance of being open and adaptable.

This experience made me realise that personal growth often comes from discomfort. When we allow ourselves to be vulnerable, to be in situations that challenge us, we open up to growth. I found myself becoming more patient in learning, more observant, and more resilient. While invaluable in everyday life, these traits are just as essential in the professional world.

Lessons for the Workplace

What stood out most during this trip was how easily these personal growth lessons translated into professional insights. Adaptability, for instance, is an increasingly valued skill in the modern workplace. In a world where change is the only constant, pivoting and adjusting without losing focus is a crucial asset. Before this trip, I would think that I was a very adaptable person, thanks to the power of reflective thinking, I can clearly see that I only adapt and apply myself within my comfort zone and always seem to play it safe.

Also, the diversity I encountered in London reminded me of the importance of cross-cultural understanding in professional situations. The ability to communicate and collaborate with individuals from different walks of life is key to fostering innovation. Whether in the workplace or in a foreign city, it’s clear that success often depends on our capacity to understand, influence and connect with others.

The conversations I had with a Lithuanian and Australian blokes and a Finnish lady brought this to the fore. We discussed food and flavours, cultures, work and everything in between life and family. Reflecting on my time in London, it became clear that personal growth naturally feeds into professional development and vice versa. The curiosity that led me to explore hidden corners of London is the same curiosity that drives innovation.

Travel, like professional challenges, is about embracing the unknown in a new role or taking on a new responsibility. Sometimes, dissatisfaction is life’s way of showing you that you’re meant for more, nudging you toward change, toward something better. It’s okay to feel what you’re feeling right now. It doesn’t mean you’re stuck — it means you’re aware, and awareness is the first step toward transformation. Kwechiri, my guy.

Kwechiri is a reminder to you: don’t give up, don’t slow down, don’t bow out. Persist and insist on your dreams and goals. Keep moving forward, one step at a time.

Take a deep breath and reflect on all the strength you’ve shown to get to this point. Every challenge you’ve faced and every setback you’ve overcome has made you stronger, wiser, and more resilient. You’ve weathered storms before, and you’re more than capable of doing it again — because inside you, there’s a power that’s stronger than any obstacle.

Sometimes, the journey feels tough because you’re climbing higher. And the higher you go, the clearer the view. Don’t underestimate the little wins along the way. Even today, you’ve likely done more than you give yourself credit for. You are growing every single day, whether you see it right now or not.

You matter. Your goals matter. Your dreams matter. Don’t give up just because the road seems difficult. In fact, when the path gets tough, kwechiri, it’s often a sign that something amazing is right around the corner.

You are more than enough, just as you are. You possess untapped potential that you may not even be aware of. Believe in yourself. You’ve come this far for a reason. Brighter days are on the horizon, and what you’re feeling now is only temporary. It will pass, leaving behind a stronger, more determined version of you.

Keep going, even if it’s just one small step today. You’re not alone, and you have everything you need within you to create the life you deserve.

Kwechiri is an Igbo word for dogged perseverance, don’t quit, don’t bulge in the face of an obstacle/challenge.

Created with Co-pilot

The parenting curriculum, a vital tool in our shared journey, has been revised. If you are unfamiliar with the changes, take a moment to catch up. Welcome to school; I hope you came with your fees.

Today, society (you and me) expects that apart from the primary responsibility of provision, protection and leadership in the home, a man should be emotionally attuned to his feminine side, know how to cook, clean and groom himself with the utmost care, after all, if women can do it a man can and should. Women are no longer enough by being women; they have to be harassed with “What are you bringing to the table?” on every date; no one wants to stay in their lane and run the race set before them. After all, there is gender equality, neutrality and, for the untrained, parity.

Anyway, parenting has changed, and thanks to the wings my father gave me, I am uninterested in the change of curriculum. If you think you have to dread your hair, paint your nails, use the wettest lip gloss, and pierce your nose as a man, go for it. If you feel the desire as a lady to be in your masculine energy, wear baggy clothes, swagger like a man, and pay your bills all by yourself, go for it. It is not your fault, nor is it mine. The parenting curriculum changed.

I am attempting to let you know that this change is not helping any of us; men are sadder and weaker, and women are unhappy and unfulfilled, don’t bite me yet. According to the World Happiness Report.

This decline in happiness isn’t limited to a specific region. It’s a global issue. Happiness has decreased in South Asia across all age groups, in North America, particularly among the youth, and in the Middle East and North Africa across all age groups.

Don’t believe my sad story yet?

In 2021–2023, negative emotions were more prevalent for females than males in every region. Almost everywhere, the gender gap is larger at older ages.

Here is the last one.

The ranking of countries by happiness is very different for the young and the old. After considering age and life circumstances, between generations, those born before 1965 have life evaluations about one-quarter of a point higher than those born after 1980.

In Nigeria, we like to think that we are the happiest people on earth; we throw mean parties, have some banging sounds and can turn lemons into lemonades, and we are never short of lemons. Our comedians and skit makers have the numbers to back them up; however, we lack data and research to gauge emotional well-being and happiness, we are ranked #102; just below Azerbaijan and right above Palestine. However, borrowing from research in the US, on many fronts, women’s lives in the United States have improved over the past 35 years, yet measures of subjective well‐being indicate that women’s happiness has declined both absolutely and relative to men (Stevenson & Wolfers, 2009). In a generation where women seek “happiness” and protect it at all costs, Why women? Well, what do you think?

Women have had the most changes in lifestyle with regard to work, parenting, personal achievements, education and measures of success. The fundamental trajectory of women has changed so much that people can no longer define a woman adequately; before you think I am anti-feminism and against all the progress that the world has made to better the lives of women, men have not been left out of this curriculum change. However, the effect is not as fundamental as women’s; it is a thing to be concerned about as new and upcoming parents have a new curriculum that is new and age-adapted with no revised methodology to adopt. If you add the recent japa-syndrome and family relocations (isolations), it becomes even messier.

If you understood all of these ramblings, you must be incredibly smart or, incredulously, not very bright. I choose to believe the former, and I hope you do, too.

So, as we advance, what do we do? I don’t know. Do you?

If I must say something, I would steal from my Dad’s playbook and adapt it to the realities of today. I am proof he did a good job, and if I can do what he did with me and the rest of the family, it would be a big win by today’s standards, not minding that there are more resources at our disposal than there ever were since the creation of mankind. I would be soaring on the wings of my father and other men who have laid good examples as resources

What do we do? What would you do?

Source:

Stevenson, B., & Wolfers, J. (2009). The paradox of declining female happiness. A year that challenged our resilience and sparked innovation across various industries, it’s therefore crucial to take a moment to look back at the professional landscape and prepare ourselves for the opportunities and challenges that 2024 may bring. In this regard, let’s look at a series of professional reviews that summarise the essence of the past year and explore the potential paths for the upcoming one.

Hybrid Work Evolution: Remote work, a 2020 catalyst, continued to reshape professional life in 2023. Embracing hybrid models, businesses prioritised virtual collaboration. Striking the right balance between remote and in-person work is a 2024 challenge: how to foster productivity and company culture efficiently will be the focus this year for SMEs.

Tech’s Transformative Journey: In 2023, technology’s relentless evolution fueled efficiency and innovation. AI, blockchain, and edge computing played pivotal roles. However, in 2024, businesses are challenged with ethical considerations in AI and cybersecurity challenges, emphasising the need to stay tech-savvy for competitiveness.

Sustainability at the Forefront: Sustainability gained traction in 2023, with businesses adopting eco-friendly practices and circular economy principles. In 2024, expect even more ambitious sustainability goals as organisations integrate environmental responsibility into core strategies.

Talent Focus: The war for talent intensified in 2023, with a focus on upskilling, reskilling, and employee well-being. In 2024, continuous learning and mental health initiatives will be crucial to nurturing a resilient and engaged workforce.

Supply Chain: Supply chain disruptions in 2023 underscored the need for resilience. In 2024, businesses will reconfigure supply chains, leveraging technology and strategic partnerships to enhance flexibility and mitigate risks. In short, own your end-to-end supply chain as much as you can.

As we move forward into 2024, let us remember the valuable lessons we have learned from the past year and use them to drive growth and positive change. The professional landscape of the coming year will be shaped by various factors, such as the challenges of hybrid work arrangements, the need to embrace technology responsibly, the importance of championing sustainability, nurturing talent, and fortifying supply chains. Let’s work towards a year of resilience and collective success!

I was entered in a 1500m race, but I was extremely unprepared. The last time I ran such a long distance was in 2003, a 3000m race against myself. Like Peter the Apostle, who boasted of his loyalty and self-sufficiency, I was confident in my abilities. However, my strength failed me at 800m and I had to drop out of the race at 1200m. Sadly, my dream of winning a track and field event was crushed.

During the trial of Jesus, Peter also faced a moment of failure. He denied association with Jesus three times, even after being accused. His denials echoed through the night, and he wept bitterly when he realized his frailty. However, in that moment of despair, he discovered grace and forgiveness. He emerged humbled, knowing that even the strongest falter. Peter's experience became a transformative chapter, reminding us that we all have moments of failure, yet redemption awaits the humble heart.

We have all been in Peter's shoes at some point in our lives. It's okay to falter sometimes, but it's important to get up and keep moving forward. Only Judas ends their life over mistakes and failures. Remember, failure is not the end.

Be sure you’re 18+ before proceeding.

Once upon a time, it will be the year 2017 AD, a young analytical individual embarked on a unique journey in the search of knowledge, a desire to know the driving force behind sex workers and their esteemed clients. This journey took me to a place often shrouded in mystery and controversy—a brothel. It was a casual visit; part of a quest to understand the hidden aspects of society and human behavior.

As I walked through the doors of the brothel, I was greeted by a world unlike anything I had ever experienced. The air was heavy with a mix of emotions—desire, desperation, loud music, drugs, liquor and secrecy. The dimly lit corridors whispered stories of broken dreams, hidden lives, slain giants and the consequences of choices made in the pursuit of pleasure.

As I walked in, the eyes that sized me up; weighed my pockets and girth as I engaged in conversations with the people who worked there—men and women who had found themselves in a complex web of circumstances. Before I could learn about the diverse reasons why individuals chose to enter the world of the sex industry, I was already being lulled by a fair-to-behold, petite lady. As we walked through the dark alley flanked on both sides by drywalls that would not hold secret whispers, let alone the sounds from genital meet and greet. We continued to the narrow staircase— few times in my life have I ever been that scared in all my adventures.

Like you already imagined, we were in her red-lit cubicle at this time. Nervous as a wet rat escaping the sewers in daylight, I smiled for about 15mins, before saying "Hello! What's your name?"
We'll call her Xrian.

Xrian: Hi fine boy, my name is Xrian, which style do you want? Quickie without taking off all my clothes is ₦2,000, if you want doggy ₦3,500 and if you want BJ, ₦5,000. Which do you want?

Me: *silence mixed with a weak smile.*

Xrian: Fine boy, talk na, you dey dull me.

Me: I will give you the money, but I don't want to have sex with you, I just want to have a chat with you.

Xrian: Bros, you be Pastor? If you wan do, abeg do, make I find another customer.

After much awkward pauses, we started to enjoy the chat, so she begins her story of how she got into the business, at this point the microbiologist in me, who assays HIV Viral load samples for pay cheques at the time. Listening to her experiences had my head spotting red flags, I feared a bull might run through and toss me across the Niger.

Xrian's reasons ranged from economic hardship to personal choice. She had a unique story to tell, shedding light on the intricacies of human nature and the complexities of our lives and choices.

During my time at the brothel, I came to a profound realization, having witnessed the inherent vulnerability that lay beneath the façade of pleasure. I saw the toll that such an environment took on the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of those involved. It became evident that this realm, although offering temporary gratification, often left a lasting scar on the lives of both the workers and their clients.

As I rushed out of the bar, I further immersed myself into the business of pleasure, from the buyers perspective, I would not have my Igbo ancestors disappointed in me, by failing to consider the monetary implications, as I did, I also became acutely aware of the ethical and moral dilemmas surrounding the sex industry. And, I am sorry, I don’t have the answers you seek…

Anyhow, before I left Xrian’s room, she asked me to take her number, be her friend and possibly get her out of the sex work life by hopefully marrying her, someday. I smiled in return.

In that instant, Eureka! I realized that illicit sex, regardless of the motivations or circumstances, is not a path to genuine connection, intimacy, or personal fulfillment. It was merely a fleeting illusion, leaving a void that could not be filled by the exchange of money or bodily fluids.

This story of my brothel visit, has helped me value sexual chastity and purity. Before then, I could careless for virginity and all whatnot, justifying such an idea with “being a good person is all that matters in life.”

Before you judge my stance, let me rephrase...

"There is a difference between a good person who has done a bad thing, and a person who enjoys doing bad things"

While one made a mistake or had a slip; the later makes it a way of life and that is not right by a lot of standards.

I penned this story, not to glorify or shame anyone, but to share my own experience. My hope is that you are entertained while making informed choices, nurturing genuine relationships, and fostering an environment that value respect, consent, and empathy.

Finally, It rings true, that fulfillment can only be found through meaningful connections, respect for oneself and others.

PS: I wasn’t strong enough to be Xrian’s friend, so I declined and never attempted such an adventure again. Not like it was necessary to explain this, but we didn’t do anything remotely sexual.

This dichotomy has immense implications in the success or failure of B2B Sales.

Value-centric sales strategies emphasize quality over quantity. They revolve around delivering exceptional solutions that address unique pain points of clients. By focusing on value, one can position themselves as trusted partners, building long-term relationships and fostering loyalty.

This approach often leads to higher customer lifetime value and increased revenue per customer. It requires thorough market research, tailored messaging, and a deep understanding of your clients' businesses. When this is all done right, the biggest takeaway is Brand LOYALTY.

On the other hand, volume-oriented sales strategies emphasize quantity and strive to close as many deals as possible. This approach is characterized by a high number of transactions and shorter sales cycles. While it may lead to short-term success, it can sometimes sacrifice value for sheer quantity. It requires efficient prospecting, effective lead generation, and a streamlined sales process. This approach is usually broad spectrum and not personal, although useful, it is however shallow with lots of verticals. These are the types of sales men, you do not like to meet , when you're really busy.

To achieve sustainable growth, most successful B2B sales teams strike the right balance between value and volume. By blending the two strategies, we can maximize revenue while ensuring customer satisfaction. It involves identifying high-value opportunities, understanding the customer's desired outcomes, and delivering personalized solutions at SCALE.

In conclusion, the key to an effective B2B sales strategy lies in finding the equilibrium between value and volume. By prioritizing value and nurturing long-term relationships, we can unlock immense growth opportunities while establishing ourselves as trusted advisors in our respective industries.

SMEs that embrace this balance, drive remarkable results and achieve brand loyalty.💪

#B2BSales #SalesStrategy #ValueVersusVolume #CustomerCentricity #BusinessGrowth

If you’re looking to boost your digital business success, it’s time to tap into the incredible potential of SEO marketing.

This game-changing strategy holds the key to unlocking higher visibility, targeted traffic, and long-term credibility.

In this article, we will delve into five compelling reasons why SEO marketing is an indispensable tool for professionals like you.

1. Skyrocket Your Online Visibility:
Imagine having your website listed on the first page of search engine results, attracting floods of potential clients or employers. SEO marketing works its magic by optimizing your online presence, ensuring you get noticed by the right people at the right time. By mastering the art of relevant keywords, captivating content, and strategic meta tags, your website can soar to new heights, increasing your online visibility like never before.

2. Targeted Traffic:
Picture this: your ideal customers or dream employers actively seeking you out on the web. That's the power of targeted traffic brought by SEO marketing. By aligning your content with specific keywords and optimizing your website accordingly, you attract individuals who are already searching for the products, services, or talents you offer. This laser-focused approach ensures that the traffic you receive is not just any traffic but the kind that converts into valuable leads or career opportunities, maximizing your returns.

3. Budget-Friendly Brilliance:
In a world where advertising costs can drain your resources, SEO marketing emerges as a budget-friendly knight in shining armor. While it requires an initial investment and ongoing effort, the rewards it reaps are worth every penny. Unlike pay-per-click advertising, SEO generates organic traffic that keeps flowing without the need for continuous investment. So, sit back and enjoy the benefits of a steady stream of eager visitors without paying for each click or impression.

4. Establish Trust and Earn Credibility:
In the competitive digital landscape, trust is paramount. SEO marketing empowers you to build an unwavering reputation and earn credibility for your personal brand or business. By consistently delivering valuable content, optimizing user experiences, and securing backlinks from reputable sources, you position yourself as an industry authority. With higher search engine rankings and an aura of trust, potential clients or employers will flock to you, knowing they can rely on your expertise.

5. Sustained Success:
Success is not a sprint; it's a marathon. With SEO marketing, you're in it for the long haul. While immediate results may take time to materialize, the efforts you invest in optimizing your website will have a lasting impact. Unlike short-lived paid advertising campaigns, SEO's benefits persist even if you scale back your optimization efforts. Of course, it's important to stay up to date with evolving search engine algorithms and industry trends to maintain your competitive edge. But once you've built a solid SEO foundation, success becomes an enduring companion on your professional journey.

Conclusion:
In the ever-evolving digital landscape, SEO marketing stands tall as the catalyst for your professional success. By leveraging its power, you can unlock a world of opportunities—increased visibility, targeted traffic, budget-friendly brilliance, trust, and sustained success. So, take the leap, embrace the SEO revolution, and watch your professional dreams transform into reality. Your path to greatness begins now!
