I almost forgot, really, that today is thanksgiving day. I was awful until a few days back but today I am very grateful.

First of all, I would like to thank Mr. Xin for joining the team. I have written to Allan Young about you, and I had every intention to use my connections of a Y Combinator company I have invested to present you in front the best incubator in the Valley. I was very grateful that you agreed to join us as a co-founder. You attention to details in your design philosophy impressed me. You are easily the best and most talented mechanical and industrial designer I have come to know in my life.

2nd of all, I would like to thank my team. I can be too logical and too demanding sometimes. And I understand humans are, after all, humans. And we are not machines. I hate debating and I thought my study of Buddhism helped to control my temper. But it still got to me from time to time. And I would like to say thanks for your tolerance. I hope that we will build a great company, that don’t care much about money but a company that will allow us to leave something we are deeply proud of and affect this generation and the generation coming after us.

3rd of all, I would like to thank my family and close friends. You are my support in my darkest times. I believe that I am still in a difficult time. And I rely on your understanding and support. Thank you for believing in me. I need that.

I lost my track of thought when the cab pulled over, but I think that should be about all that I want to say for today. Happy Thanksgiving.

The current version uses a commercially available ESC with sensorless drive. This results in terrible uphill start and completely unpredicatable braking behavior. We will first try a commercial ESC with Hall Effect sensor control. If still not working as desired, we have started looking into custom ESC for closed loop acceleration and deacceleration control.

So about a month ago, 3 friends think it would be a cool hackathon project for an electric longboard. We made our first version using 3D printed parts designed in Pro/E and an Arduino compatible board.

The main controller was a Punchthrough Bean Arduino BLE board. We made an simple iOS app to control the throttle.

We also got to borrow 3 x 3D printers from a hackerspace nearby. They printed overnight for our wheel and fixture.

Before presentation

And it worked!
https://medium.com/media/f6ae66435828cc6f11d62b324338ba0e/href
and first place!
