Chris Moon

Artist Management & Promotion Final

Alex Joselyn

I thought overall our group decided on a band that we could work with freely and approach it from multiple levels. We started with album release and tour prep, by partnering with Riverport Brewing, along with a music video agenda while signing up for festivals. I thought we could’ve shot for a bigger beer brand that could equally represent the band just as Riverport would’ve. Also instead of just doing a promotional show to support the brand i would’ve promoted through multiple different social media platforms and offer special signed apparel associated with the brand to major fans.

Another thing i would’ve done is do a show in Vegas in between Phoenix and L.A. despite certain band members past experiences. Las Vegas is a great place to gain exposure to a bigger and more diverse audience as well as a great place to make extra money off merch. If they rock hard enough Vegas could be a big part of their income as a band every year and a great annual venue.

The last thing I would do is include all of my fans in on the email associated giveaway. doing just a email give away is just restricting your possible winners. More fans is more people engaging with your and your brand and thats the main goal. Also For christmas prepare some kind of single or album referring to the holidays in a “Homewreckr” style.

Thats what I would’ve done, otherwise i thought we did good and I had fun either way.

Chris Moon-Artist Management and Promotion

Alex Joselyn

The Music industry is constantly changing, and todays artists need to always be aware of new ways to help them advance in their career. Many people still think that a record label is the ticket to success, but that is far from true. Unless you already have a large following they don’t even look at you. In the world today, so many new platforms and ways of spreading your music have emerged and to be successful, you need to find your own groove of using social media and finding tricks that help you maintain a living at the very least.

One thing thats VERY important to do and gets slacked on a lot is creating cool and fun ways to engage your fans and make them feel connected and happy. Give incentives for loyal fans and and never ignore ANY fan. Even if you don’t care what they have to say, simply taking the seconds it takes to reply can make that persons life and they will always rock with you to the end. The time it takes to show that little bit acknowledgment will make it more than just a song, it will make it a memory and special connection that you will always have. your fans are everything give them love like you want love from them.

Making money is harder these days due to the streaming business. The people want every song at their fingertips and that may be perfect, but for the artists who spend their life doing this are paying for it. Its important that you have a way to make money and spread your music without breaking the bank. Music distribution services are very helpful in getting your music to places you can’t yourself like iTunes. They also track how many, and where your listeners are so you can make changes to target your audience. this also goes back to giving fan love. Loyal fans want to buy your stuff and you need money so both parties are happy. Give fans daily news and keep them engaged with snapchat videos, and send out sneak peaks. Just give them what you want from your favorite artist and you’ll be good.

The best thing i think to do is just do you and be 1000% yourself and you will find your people who decide to rock with you forever. Don’t worry about what people think that don’t matter. And always remember to be grateful and respectful when meeting people because you never know who can and will give you a big opportunity. Stay real and it will come to you. But don’t lose the music along the way.
