Contribution of Fossasia(link to website)

Coming to know about Gci16(https://codein.withgoogle.com) I was thrilled and i participated in it.I waas totally a beginner but as i am doing tasks of Fossasia my knowledge is increasing.

Fossasia’s tasks are really great ranging from beginner to professional.These tasks makes one learn and have fun.There are tasks related to android,java,html etc..These tasks mainly are having Github as one of their component(tasks which i have done),so we can say that at the end of a task one will always have something to cheer about.

Not to forget their mentors.Well,they are really nice always ready to help you in every manner as possible.you’ll always get your task reviewed within an hour at the highest.Now what to say about my fellow mates .They are just fantastic.Always ready to help each other.I can say that there is high percentage of co-ordination between each other.

Some tasks are takes time to understand but then as I said it tests you patience and after that mentors are always there to appreciate you.

The first step was to create a github account and then I started going through it.I forked repositories and starred some of them.Then being fascinated by them created one of my own(https://github.com/kshitijsingla/python-stuff) and believe me it is fun.During making my own repository I also learned about making commit and pushing it.

Steps:

Do some changes in your project, (say in hello.py)

git add hello.py

commit with a nice commit message

git commit -m “add hello.py”

push to remote repository

git push

I am Kshitij Singla,citizen of India.Studing in class 10 and hugely intersted in science and technology because of the change it can bring in the lives of people. I am learning C programming and looking forward to learn python and many more.

Google Code-In is a great learning platform.working on tasks I came to know about many new things like Git, Github and also working on Linux/Ubuntu and lot more things .It is fun to work on tasks as one never feels bored because there is so much to learn for everyone.Tasks ranges from beginner to professional so everything for everyone.I think that this competition has really encouraged me to learn and do more .

Talking about all this role of FOSSASIA cannot be discarded.Their tasks are really great which helps me to learn many new things.it was from their tasks that I came to know about Git,Github etc..Their mentors are really cool who are always ready to help me doing my tasks.
