After instagram’s stories, Facebook has yet again shamelessly tried to replicate/clone Snapchat, but this time through very popular WhatsApp messaging app, which it acquired back in 2014 for $19 billion!

I’ve started using Snapchat 6 months ago to promote my London based design agency, it got very little traction as it’s very much B2b focused and its hard to find anyone above the age of 20 on there.

However, WhatsApp’s new attempt to take on Snapchat is an interesting one and this is why.

I use my personal phone for business and most of the people on my WhatsApp are either existing clients or past clients. I shared a photo to test the new feature with my colleague after a business meeting and the results were amazing!

Within an hour it received 63 views, almost 50 more than my 6 months old Snapchat.

Now imagine if you have 500–1,000 B2B customers on your WhatsApp and you run a promotional offer or introduce a new product. There’s no need to send out a mailing list or boost a post on Facebook, simply WhatsApp Status and you’re bound to reach 10–15% of your customers within minutes.

Personally, I’m super excited to experiment and see how I can build a loyal customer base, esp now that my business focus has moved away from Twitter and Google Plus.
