We are the passionate team behind Phori, and we’re beyond excited to introduce you to our upcoming project — an anonymous chat app designed to help people make genuine connections online — for introverts and extroverts alike.

In a world where we’re more connected and plugged in than ever, it’s ironic that many of us still feel a sense of loneliness. We’re eternal optimists who believe in the power of online connection, for friendships, romantic relationships, or whatever it is you’re in search of. Remember the days when you could strike up a chat with someone at any time, free from the worries of harassment or judgment? We miss those (much) simpler times too, and that’s why we’re building Phori — to provide a safe space online where genuine connections can thrive.

How did we come up with Phori?

The inspiration for Phori stems from a collective longing for meaningful, substantive relationships. We grew up using chat platforms like Omegle, and we miss the days when you could just have someone to talk to at all times without worrying about the typical negatives that come along with many of today’s social media platforms and apps. Growing up as introverts, we felt closer to our online friends than our “real” friends. Unfortunately, those platforms started to take a turn as the focus shifted to appearances and vanity.

We understand the universal need for human connection, and we’ve built Phori with that in mind. Our app is a response to the desire for something more genuine in a digital age, when connections so commonly feel superficial. We envision a community where people can truly be themselves, share their thoughts, interests, and passions without fear, and forge connections that go beyond the surface.

Traditional social media platforms reward vanity metrics like followers, thirst trap photos, and other behaviors that don’t contribute to welcoming or positive online spaces. On Phori, users are rewarded for being themselves, engaging in conversations, and making friends on the app.
