Blog engagement gets a good deal of pub.

Pros guide bloggers to boost engagement. People need to engage content for the content to be relevant. On a literal basis, unless some form of interaction occurs, content ceases to exist.

Does that sound harsh?

You bet ya.

Is it true?

Yep.

But bloggers make the amateur hour error of engaging anything that moves. Chasing strangers makes little sense. Engaging critics makes even less sense. Engaging spammers, disinterested individuals and non-committal folks makes even less and less sense.

Should You Run a Blogging Group on Exclusivity or Inclusivity?

Run highly exclusive blogging groups for social media.

Approve only members who seem resonant.

Let them prove their inclusion once inside.

At the end of the day, blogging groups for sites like Twitter, Facebook and the pro network LinkedIn thrive based on:

the content published to the wall
the engagement of members in response to the content

Both seem to be critical factors in running a highly valued group. Highly valued groups drive organic traffic through social media. The algorithm loves excellent content mixed with solid engagement levels.

Pitching your business unsolicited is like trying to do business with a ghost.

Almost no one sees spam emails. I look over my spam folder fro a few moments before deleting. Ditto for my trash folder. Ditto for any folder not in my main inbox along any communication channels.

What about spam which worms its way into the inbox?

I delete, or block or mark as spam and move on.

I was let go from my security guard job a long time ago because the company downsized me. The last thing I wanted to do was scramble back to a job. I tired of trading time for money. I got sick of working 18 hour days. I also felt disgusted with getting double shifts pushed on me at midnight. When it happened once or twice I appreciated the overtime but working 16 hours from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. made me begin to hate my job.
