There are a lot of unknowns about any restrictions or new guidelines that may be enforced for travel during COVID-19. Although there are some ways to travel far and airlines are still operating, you may be looking for an alternative way to spend some time away from your home and see a new place. Taking a road trip is a great way to see different places and gain a bit more control over your travel plans. Here are some tips to help you plan the best road trip possible.

Get Your Car Prepared

Once you have your destination set, you’ll need to make sure that your car can handle that trip. Be sure to check your tires, brakes, battery, engine oil, and windshield wipers. You want to cover all of your bases before heading out to ensure that you have the smoothest trip. Especially in 2020, you might not be able to find a service station that’s open on your travels to resolve an issue while on your trip. It’s better to be over prepared than underprepared. Also, give your car a good deep clean. Going on a road trip can leave your car a bit messy because you’re spending so much time inside there. Starting out the trip with a fresh wash and deep clean will put you on the right path for a great trip!

Make a List

Sometimes the best part is the journey and not the destination, but it could also be planning that journey. Planning all of the things you’ll need and making a list can be very fun and help you get more excited for your trip. It’ll also help reduce your stress and ensure that you have all you’ll need on the road. Pack a cooler with snacks, create an emergency kit for yourself and your vehicle, and prepare your maps and guidebooks. Don’t forget to pack hand sanitizer, jumper cables, and download any maps before you leave. Check your list a few times before you head out just to make sure you’re not forgetting anything and you’ll be good to go!

There may be more people heading out on a road trip this year than in years prior. If you are one of those people, don’t forget to prep your car and make detailed lists for all the things you’ll need on the road before you go. It’ll help you create the best trip possible.
