I’m excited to share that I’ve officially registered to attend the DeafNation Expo here in Columbus, Ohio — an event that brings together members of the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community, entrepreneurs, educators, interpreters, and accessibility advocates from across the region.

For me, this is much more than just an event. As a technology entrepreneur and EB2-NIW immigrant with a mission to develop inclusive tools for the Deaf community, DeafNation represents a direct line to the people I aim to serve.

My goal in participating is clear:

To understand the real needs and cultural dynamics of the Deaf community in the U.S.

To connect with stakeholders, from advocates to innovators, who are already building accessibility solutions.

And to explore how my background in software development, AI integrations, and mobile apps can empower this community with better tools and experiences.

This experience will help me gather valuable insights that I plan to incorporate into my projects — including interpreter platforms, accessibility layers in service apps, and AI-driven communication tools.

Columbus continues to surprise me with the richness of its communities and the strength of its local networks. This city is more than a base — it’s becoming a place of co-creation and opportunity for inclusive innovation.

I look forward to learning, connecting, and contributing — and I’ll be sharing takeaways from DeafNation soon.

But to me, it represents something much deeper. It symbolizes how the United States and especially Ohio — acknowledges and supports the specific needs of the Deaf and Blind community. Seeing a dedicated vehicle like this isn’t just encouraging, it reinforces the importance of accessibility as a fundamental right, not just an optional feature.

As someone who immigrated to the U.S. under the EB2-NIW visa with a mission to promote accessibility for the Deaf through technology, this moment reminded me why I’m here and why my work matters.

This photo, while simple, speaks volumes about a society’s values and it gives me even more motivation to align my work with those values.

Adapting to a new country involves more than just logistics; it means understanding new laws, embracing a different culture, navigating a new transportation system, and learning how to rebuild everything from scratch.

But as I’ve learned throughout my life, meaningful achievements often come from uncomfortable beginnings.

As part of my endeavor focused on accessibility for the Deaf community, I’ve begun to identify several valuable opportunities here in Columbus, Ohio — a place I now call home and a city rich with untapped potential. I’ve had the privilege of meeting visionary entrepreneurs and business leaders who have inspired me to expand the scope of my original project and explore new applications of my technological expertise.

These conversations helped me see how my skills in software development, AI integration, and accessibility can be applied not only in Deaf-centered initiatives, but also in broader areas like home services and enterprise technology. In fact, many sectors in Ohio still operate without modern digital solutions — and this gap represents a huge opportunity to innovate and deliver impact.

I’m currently involved in three major initiatives:

A technology company focused on building smart applications and software — with accessibility as a core value;

A home services company where I act as CTO, applying tech and accessibility solutions to serve diverse customers, including the Deaf community;

And preparations to bring my former Brazilian company — which provides live interpreter services for Deaf individuals — to the U.S. market.

Each of these projects is aligned with my mission: using technology as a tool to build a more inclusive and accessible world. And Columbus has proven to be fertile ground for this mission.

This blog marks the beginning of my journey’s documentation. I will use this space to share not only the technical progress of my projects, but also insights, challenges, and reflections as I continue to develop impactful solutions aligned with the goals of my EB2-NIW endeavor.
