Message to an average YouTube user

from the YouLike team:

Are you one of those people who will not bother to like a YouTube video that you actually enjoyed watching?

Do you ignore the like button because you think it is part of the ignominious “like, share, comment” trend or maybe because you believe that it’s the laziest and most indifferent way of saying thank you?

Whatever is the case, we feel you!

We spent a lot of time debating and arguing about the value of user feedback, monetization of video content on the web and sequentially about the power of communities in today’s world.

And at some point, we realized that we can offer something to the YouTube community that was missing there from the beginning:

Continuous monetization of the creator’s work directly by the community

Some people live in a strong illusion that the current economic model of YouTube is working fine. That it’s as close to being fare as possible. We know that some video bloggers do get paid handsomely, enjoy their celebrity status and can afford to turn their YouTube channel into their main source of income.

However, it is not the case for most YouTube communities, which total only tens and hundreds of thousands of subscribers. But think about it for a second, this is actually a huge number of people! People that follow, comment, like and love the content produced by the YouTube creator. This is an amazingly strong force, which lacks one simple thing: economic cooperation.

And finally, we must admit to ourselves that no social platform on the web today offers a sustainable economic model for small and medium-sized communities.

Now you probably realize why we have decided to build and launch the YouLike service. Our vision is to empower any community with a new type of cooperation. We want the community to be the main source of support for creators which in turn, will produce content mainly for their supporters. This way the weak and unsatisfactory ad–monetization economy of YouTube becomes a less important factor in the community’s and channel’s growth.

That’s where you, the viewer, enter the picture. If we really want to change the current ad-oriented model, which is both irritating for us, the viewers and money scarce for the creators, we must step into the ring and become direct supporters of those who we follow.

We must take upon ourselves the burden of financial support of our communities. And YouLike is the simplest, yet potentially very powerful instrument for achieving the financial independence of the community.

This is our story.

And this is our message to you, the average YouTube user:

Are you ready to be responsible for the growth of your favorite YouTube community?

If you are, join us and signup on YouLike today!
