To some, it may have just sounded like an alternative marketing speak for just another string of boring panels and awkward meets. To their surprise, however, after 4 days of immersive experiences, they would have undoubtedly left with memories that would last a lifetime. Solstice rewrote how we view the conference experience.

From Brooklyn rooftops to the streets of Chinatown- I saw firsthand what community-led, vibe-first gatherings could actually look like. It was more than panels or pitches. It was about connection, creativity, laughter and shared moments that stick with you.

Wednesday, June 25 — Rooftops and First Hellos

Just picture the scene- Arlo Williamsburg hotel in Brooklyn,NY, warm breeze and that unforgettable Manhattan skyline in the distance. Old friends hugging, new faces turning into inside jokes in minutes all with a drink in hand.

It was the kind of opening that melts your nerves and eases your guard. It was one of those summer nights you didn’t want to end. The sun began to set after a few hours of networking, and we all collectively made our way to the uppermost part of the rooftop (with the best view). We all huddled together for a group photo and enjoyed the remaining sunset and watched as the skyline began to glisten with lights. Afterwards we all broke off into groups- some to the monke hotel, some for another drink at the NFT NYC Nolcha party across the harbor, and others, like myself, for some tasty tacos.

The perfect ending to a perfect evening.

Thursday, June 26th — Claw Machines & Comedy

Morning

As I made my way to the Solana Skyline hub on 141 Houston, women gathered on mats for a morning of Founders Yoga by OFFline. We enjoyed sips of cold juices and drinks from Zen kitchen & Flojo and little conversations that would have never happened in a stiff expo hall.

Some of the ladies were pros, while others, it was their first time. Lena, our amazing instructor helped melt away stress in an hour of breathing and poses to help center and be present. Towards the end, Alice surprised her with a birthday cake and we all made our way to the 5th floor to network and enjoy refreshments and each other’s company.

Simultaneously, another group was moonwalking with boba tea.

For the rest of the early afternoon, Dreamnet hosted a hackathon on the 8th floor, and the “DePloyooor Con” featured a panel that really bridged the gap of connection and technology. Following those, many drifted into the coworking space on floor 5, where laptops clicked away accompanied by the smells of coffee.

No forced networking, just real people, building side by side.

Evening

The evening kicked off with the Saga Monkes Pizza Party that felt like just casual fun hang with your friends after school, like back in the day.

Continued DePIN talk at “Plugged In,” and then the BEST surprise- the Charity Claw Machine.

I could write an entire piece on how much fun we all had at Stanley’s Claw Machines that night- but we all know degens don’t like to read, and I’m already pushing it, as it is. Just know, Alice won 4 LaBuBus, Lena and many others won the new Solana Ledger Flex exclusive, CUDIS ring, NFTs (Sensei, Player 2, and more), Tokens (Bonk, Duko and more) and so much merch. The first 75 also got a free meal voucher from the delicious food truck that was parked right outside the venue. Even Bangerz joined in on the fun with her game of “Solana or Slime.” I say this confidently- no one wanted to leave this event.

We did, however, and headed to the final event of the evening- “Hot Takes.” A comedy show hosted by Entropy with an open bar and a lineup of comedians at Charlie Chaplin’s old stomping grounds. It was surreal.

We all laughed (and drank) until our stomachs hurt.

Friday, June 27th — Art, Memes, Chinatown & Rooftops

Morning

Started again with Moonwalk & Offline wellness, this time co-ed yoga. Another round in the coworking hub, ideas passing like snacks.

Panels & Pop-Ups

The 6th floor panel on NFTs, memes & the culture of it all was electric- Cab from Claynosaurz, Armani from MadLads, some absolute queens of Solana and many more.

Just a short walk away, Solana Spaces pop-up store was buzzing: Buy anything, get a free .solana domain. Merch that felt both uniquely NYC and Web3, including the exclusive Clayno tote.

Later that day, tucked inside “Somewhere”, Macy Gettles’ 1st art exhibition took my breath away - colors, visual stories, and the feeling of wanting to take a piece home forever.

Evening

The basketball tournament tipped off, blending local players/leagues & Web 3 onlookers. Then the Solstice BBQ in Chinatown- good music, good bites and some white claws. Capped by yet another rooftop party with phenomenal music, views and drinks, because how else do you end a NYC summer night?

Saturday, June 28th — Light, Playful & for a Cause

After a team brunch, we made our way back the same spot as the BBQ party the night prior for the Labubuland Market. People crowded around tables for exclusive merch from MonkeDAO and Bonk. The market also featured other local businesses and a game of ball toss for a chance to win a LaBuBu. Shout out to Hanko and Nom who absolutely dominated. If you know- you know.

Myself as well as many others walked in the Buddies for Paws by Bonk Charity Fashion Show - where MonkeDAO & Bonk pieces were strutted for a cause.

Immediately following the market- we headed to the final event of the week- the basketball finals that tied it all together- a check for the champs, while locals cheered on.

It was hard to believe it had all come to a close.

Throughout the Week — The City Became a Game

LootGO’s geolocation loot boxes made the entire city part of Solstice. Take the excitement of PokémonGo but make it Web3 with catching bananas for points to win NFTs, tokens and other prizes.

Degens running through streets, phones out, laughter everywhere. I think watching Santi and April go head to head in points made my week.

Closing Thoughts — What It All Meant

I’ve been to a lot of conferences. Most blur together.

Solstice didn’t.

It reminded me why I do this.

Why I put up with market dips, project setbacks, endless group chats - because at the core of it all is this: people who dream big, who laugh easily, who care enough to show up IRL. Beyond the charts and market cycles, it’s always been about the people.

It showed me that when we stop trying to do things the ‘traditional’ way and just lead with vibes, community, and a little chaos, the magic shows up on its own.
