What is a W3Develops “cohort”? [1 min]

💥2. Here’s what to expect [1 min]

💥3. Conclusion [0 min]

1 — What is a W3Develops “cohort”?

A cohort is another word for a team or group of people. So basically you and 200 other professional and/or aspiring developers will come together from across the world (close to 100 different countries) to code projects together. w3Develops creates the challenges and finds other devs for you to collaborate with that way you can stay focused on one thing, building your project.

Every developer in a cohort to do two things. The first is to learn team collaboration. The second is to finish projects to add to beef up your portfolio. You and everyone else will be separated into small teams with 3–6 other people in your time zone and tier(experience) level. Then your will pick a project manager. After that you will pick a project and make your teams GitHub repositories. Next assign tasks, goals and complete your project. Even if you are the last man standing continue to the end. Your cohort can last 2–12 weeks depending on your teams momentum.

This is your chance to take the initiative and make an effort to learn, BUILD, and learn team collaboration. Initially this is an investment in yourself because the skills you learn here are not easily acquired or sometimes even possible alone. While it’s true that everyone will not make it to the end do not forget, this is about gaining knowledge and growth faster than normally possible on your own because we are taking you off the tutorials and putting you in the developer workshop. Hopefully you will make lifelong friends along the way. It’s not abnormal for people who focus, commit, and keep the momentum to get jobs in the end. Stay motivated young grasshopper 🚀

2 — Here’s what to expect

You and your team will build pick a project from the Chapter 1 — Team Projects Lineup and finish it! Or come up with a new one altogether 😉

Here we don’t just build projects, we build friendships as well.

We host the w3Develops devTalks podcast, learning groups, job workshops, local meetups, nonprofit activism activities and so much more😃

We have a super friendly environment so if you have any questions don’t be shy just ask!

3— Conclusion

Now you know what W3Develops Cohorts is all about. It’s now time for us to pass the tools on to you that will empower you to level your skills all the way up and red line your goals.
