How to Get the Most Out of FATdrop — Top Five Tips for Promo Recipients
Find all your promos in one place, stay logged in, choose which format to download, check promos on your phone, merge email addresses, and much more…
Here are five things you can do with FATdrop that you might not know about:
1. Find all of your promos in one place — your dashboard
Simply head to promos.fatdrop.co.uk and follow the instructions to login, and you can find all of your promos in one place. You can quickly see which ones have not yet been opened (by checking the ‘unopened’ tab) and which ones you’ve already left feedback on (they have a green corner in the bottom right). Additionally, you can filter by label/sending account by going to your subscriptions page and clicking on the account whose promos you want to view.
2. Stay logged in on a device — removing the need for email verification
Once logged into your dashboard, click the menu in the top right and choose ‘stay logged in’. On this device you’ll now never need to do the extra verification step to access a promo link or visit your dashboard. You can even be logged in with multiple accounts simultaneously, and quickly switch between them in this menu.
3. Choose which format to download promos in (WAV, FLAC, AIFF or 320kbps MP3)
On any promo, simply click the cog ⚙ icon above the download arrows for the tracks. Here you can choose your preferred download format from WAV, FLAC, AIFF or 320kbps MP3. Note that some senders may not enable lossless downloads for that promo, so in that case you’ll get an MP3 even if your preferred choice is a lossless format.
4. Check promos on your phone and download to Dropbox
Our whole site is optimised for mobile, so simply head to promos.fatdrop.co.uk in a browser on your phone and login if you haven’t already. Open a promo, click the cog ⚙ icon above the download arrows and set the download location to be your Dropbox account. Now you can listen to promos on the go, and when you click ‘download’, the files will be synced to the connected Dropbox account.
5. Merge multiple email addresses into one FATdrop account, or change the address to which promos are delivered
Once logged in, click the menu in the top right and go to ‘Profile and Settings’. Make sure you’re logged in with an address you DON’T want to receive promos to, and then click the ‘change email’ link and enter the email address you DO want to receive promos to. After hitting ‘CHANGE’, go to your email inbox and click the confirmation link to finish the process.
Bonus tip: Get more benefits with FATdrop beta
In the beta version, the promo player will be much larger, allowing you to see the artist of all tracks simultaneously. The ‘ultra-sound’ waveform is also larger and is based on the frequency spectrum of the track, meaning you can see how loud the lows/mids/highs are at various points in the track. Plus, if you want to download a promo for a second time, you are not required to leave feedback a second time like in the classic version.
To activate beta: log in to your dashboard, click the menu in the top right, go to ‘Profile and Settings’, and toggle the ‘enable beta features’ option at the bottom.
