Dwij Bhargav — City President, Jorhat Chapter, Feeding India.

I’ve been volunteering as a part of Feeding India’s Jorhat Chapter for the past year, and have had many heartwarming experiences through this time. Recently, our city, Jorhat, was affected severely due to torrential downpours and heavy floods. While I’ve always believed in the cause, I think it was most heartening to see the Feeding India Hunger Heroes come together from various parts of the country to extend their support to us. I especially want to call out the efforts of our Guwahati team and central team for all the support during this trying time.

Thousands of lives have been disrupted and so many are struggling for basic amenities such as food, shelter and water. However, with everyone’s help and relentless commitment we were able to distribute over 3000 relief kits across 12 of the affected villages, with more relief kits being prepared for drives in the future.

Over the past weeks our teams of volunteers have worked with an incredible amount of hustle and intensity and we’re most proud of the difference we’ve been able to make on the ground. When I see the smiles on the faces of the families and the children we were able to help, it reinstates my belief in the mission and tells me that while we have a long way to go, we are getting a few steps ahead in our journey towards a hunger and waste free India.
