There was a king of a scholary tribe who told his subjects, “Be brief, clear and accurate in what you say. Do not be vague and do not waste unnecessary words in trying to say what you mean.”

A subject replied, “So, briefly, clearly, accurately, say what you mean.”

The king smiled hearing this reply.

Days later the king went to this very same subject with a story he had written.

The subject examined the king’s story and said, “Good, but too many words.”

So the king rewrote the story and once more presented it to the subject.

The subject stated again, “Good, but too many words.”

The king returned to the subject with a single word story, “Triumph.”

The subject smiled reading this story.
