The tale of Dalton versus Grammarly — and some takeaways
A year ago, I ummed and ahhed about what writing aid to sign up to facilitate and improve my storytelling. I decided to stick with Grammarly since I was already using it for free, plus they had offered me a sweet deal; a 50% discount offer.
I was excited to finally see the suggestions behind all those teasing messages of potential edits on my work and use their plagiarism check. Their weekly pep emails about what a fantastic writer I was quickly becoming were also welcome and motivating.
I write, they fix! This sounded like a great relationship in the making.
Unfortunately, this hasn't always been the case. Although Grammarly has been helpful, I am not entirely satisfied with its performance. My words are misinterpreted countless times, and I'm persistently bugged about an 'issue' even if I've deemed it okay.
If I put my full faith in Grammarly's capabilities, my stories become a royal shambles. The sense is messed up, words are duplicated, and my writing looks like I haven't graduated from elementary school.
I was so disgruntled two months after signing up that I had a little whinge session here.
