In my Medium profile, you will see I have only 49 articles published, a meager number compared to the goals I had this year. What you will not see is that I have 32 drafts yet to be polished and published. Well, they are not 32 anymore but 0. That is right, I deleted all of them, and I think you should too.

When I come to Medium to write, I am always so pumped up and full of energy. Something exciting happened, something interesting, something sad and, I need to put it down. The words come flowing just like they are right now. When I am done, pending no serious interruptions, I publish it immediately after editing.

Other times I am unable to complete the article, and I leave it for a later date. Other times I wonder if it is worth publishing, even just to myself. I cringe at the words, and rereading them does not click with me as the ideas did. I leave those too, hoping I will rewrite them again because I believe the idea is just in there. It just needs some time. I will come back when I am fresher and complete my story.

So they pile up and one by one. I end up publishing new ones and even submitting some to applications. Still, I count the drafts as part of my stories, but they are not. The idea that always made me keep them or publish them half-baked was that I would come…
