I Have a 100% Curation Rate and I’m Still Making Coffee Money

Distribution isn’t the magic bullet to high earnings

… And that’s okay with me. I mean, I’d love to be making more money, don’t get me wrong. It’s not the primary reason I write here, though. I work as a book coach and editor, so part of it is simply to expand my audience. Also, it’s fun. I enjoy coming up with article ideas, writing them, and seeing them published and getting reactions from other writers.

I’ve been writing here since December of 2020, after spending about six months as a reader. I discovered writers and publications I liked and benefitted from all the free advice out there (thank you, generous fellow writers!) and finally decided that I too, would like to write on this platform.

I didn’t have high expectations. I’d been warned how few writers make even $100 a month here, and only a few super-prolific writers, who had mostly been on the platform for several years, were making consistent five figures. I mean, a girl can dream, but I also knew that the stuff I wanted to write about wasn’t going to be in the most popular categories, or it would be in categories that are hard to break into because they’re already dominated by the big names.
