Why has everything absolutely tanked since I joined a year ago? My dad warned me that these sites aren’t sustainable, but I didn’t think things would go downhill so fast.
We have had multiple large publications leave the platform which started with PS I Love You, then The Ascent (which genuinely shocked me), then Post Grad Survival Guide. How many more am I missing?
Need I mention the completely f%ckery with the Medium Writing Challenge? Do indie writers even stand a chance with anything anymore or do you have to already be wealthy and have strong ties to the company?
Ever since Medium had their spending spree, showering us with bonus money and having us all compete with each other, I knew we would have to compensate somewhere. My earnings have tanked so bad I don’t even if it’s worth carrying on anymore. It’s not even as if my statistics are awful because even though they are down, they aren’t awful, but my earnings just aren’t the same. I thought it was because Mercury was in retrograde, but then I realised that some idiot has changed the algorithm. Again.
