Let’s face some home truths — it’s not about you it’s about your audience and what they want to read and respond to. If you want to be a successful writer on any platform you need to find a balance between what you want to write about and what people actually want to read!

To help you with this you need to find your niche! There are a lot of articles out there about writing for your niche, but what if you don’t know what that is? This is where the funnel approach can really help you. It doesn’t just stop there as you can also introduce ‘funnelling’ to your story telling too.

The funnel approach to finding your niche

It’s time to apply that funnel approach…

  1. Start broad and write about ALL the topics you want to write about! Do this 3–7 days a week for 20–30 days and then take a look at your stats. What topics got the most reads for you? You could then rinse and repeat for another 20+ days if you wish.
  2. You might want to create an index page with additional sub index pages to showcase your top stories.
  3. Pick 3–5 of your top topics and carry on writing about
