These Medium Meta Articles Need to Stop.

It doesn’t matter if you’re new or old, pull up a seat and read this.

Medium is a website full of meta articles, just like this one. Trends come and go, but many stay. And this pesky one never seems to leave. That being articles about making money on Medium, dissing the algorithm, begging for followers and some bullshit about curation jail. They’re clogging the news feed and putting off new readers/writers.

I want a clear out.

Not making/how to make money articles

There are two ends to the spectrum of Medium meta articles. People that brag about making over $XX and “teaching” others how to make this amount, or those complaining because they didn’t make money.

Let’s unwrap the wealthier side of the spectrum. If you make money here there’s a particular element of luck. Yes I know that you have to write a good article, headline, sub-header etc. But that’s it, you can’t explain how your article went viral or made money. It was luck, nothing more, nothing less. There is no “formula” to writing a viral article. Now, get back to your desk and write something more interesting.
