This Article Earned Me $950+
Six months later, I’m still seeing the earnings roll in
I never put much thought into whether the article would go viral — but I put work into it to make the piece unique. To be sure, I spent hours upon hours writing and editing it, nothing to speak of getting feedback from people who knew more about the topic than I do.
Since the article is about race relations — and especially because I’m white — I wanted to make sure that people who had either worked in civil rights or who had experienced racism got to take a stab at it.
And that was before the publication editors gave feedback on the article that I wanted them to post. The editors liked my piece, but they wanted me to provide takeaway actions for my readers — which took me at least an hour to do.
My piece went live on November 5, 2020, and since then, I’ve earned more than $950 on the article.
If anything, I was surprised that so many Medium members spent so much time reading the article. After all, it takes 11 minutes to read. I never expected 6.4K people to read the article.
