What Should I Write About: Sex, Cryptocurrency, Medium or Babies?

Deciding what sort of Medium writer I should be

What sort of writer should I try to be on Medium? I got burnt out recently and stopped writing so much. I was also disillusioned when a response I made to a story was getting far more views than anything I wrote. I don’t write solely to make money, but it’s disheartening when you put effort into something and hardly anyone reads it. I’ve paused to think how I should go forward.

According to my totally unscientific research the following topics do well:

Cryptocurrency

I noticed a lot of stories about this trending at one point. However, the first rule of online writing is to write about something you know about, or at least are interested enough to learn about. I don’t understand cryptocurrency and I’m not really motivated to learn about it.

Writing about sex

This seems to be popular. However, I’m concerned someone I know (my parents) will find my Medium profile. I don’t use my real name, but if you know me in real life you might recognise me.

I’m also not that adventurous, would I have anything interesting enough to say? I am considering setting up a second account if that’s allowed…
