Product

  • Our exciting secret projects are moving forward. We are getting closer to release.
  • We’ve collected over 11,000 beta testers for Feeld. Thank you!

iOS

  • We’ve resolved issues with the Messaging part of the app. Messages are now aligned correctly, indicating the sender and the recipient. We’ve also added support to detect phone numbers and links, with all the common actions found in the default iOS Messages app such as Open in Safari, Call, and Create Contact.
  • Discover has been updated to use a minus symbol rather than an “X” to indicate the dislike action to help with usability. Initial beta test feedback highlighted that some users were tapping the dislike action thinking that it was a close button. We need to conduct further testing to resolve this problem.
  • We’ve improved the authentication process when launching the app from a “cold start”. Authentication now happens as soon as possible, and previous Connections are displayed immediately. New Connections are then dowloaded and synced in the background.
  • We’ve increased the level of test coverage in the app, especially around Discover. For a “non-techie”, this basically means that as we’re finding and fixing bugs we’re adding tests to make sure we don’t see that bug again. This process will help us have confidence in the code we’re writing and result in a smoother, bug-free experience for our members.
  • As we’re getting closer to release we’re working on a lot of small tasks, mostly UI related. These are helping deliver the best experience possible for our members, and will hopefully excite the community. This week we’ve worked on:
  • Improving the animation/transition when navigating from Discover to Menu.
  • Adding subtle gradient overlays so that members with light profile images don’t have their content washed out.
  • Moving the position of the toast view to the top of the screen, so that it does not interrupt you if you’re typing on the keyboard.
  • Ensured that all avatar images throughout the app use the member’s main profile image.
  • Updated the style of the alert view so that the content is more easily readable.
  • Removed duplicate image assets from the app — this should make new downloads/installation slightly quicker.
  • Added the ability to tap on a Future Connection to view their profile.

Android

  • Automatically disconnect from someone when you report them.
  • Improving the “Edit profile” interface.
  • Supporting the legacy accounts from previous versions of Feeld.
  • Preparing the app for public beta testing.

Backend

  • Improving the support bot so our support team can solve issues faster.
  • Updated Layer API from 1.1 to 2.0.
  • Improved code related to birthdate.
  • Added phone validation.

Thanks for your patience and stay tuned for next week’s update.
