As a team celebrating inclusivity and advocating equality as a basic human right, we sometimes take the ways we work for granted. So amongst all the work we need to do, we decided to pick out some of the team’s favourite books & pieces written by women and femme-identifying humans.

Forgotten Women

Definitely check out UK Broadly Editor Zing Tsjeng’s new book series Forgotten Women.

On Liking Women

Read one of the best essays on the internet about trans desire and lesbian feminism by the brilliant Andrea Long Chu.

Homesick for Another World

Anything by Ottessa Moshfegh but especially her short stories is a must read when it comes to unraveling the darker impulses underneath human desire. She also has a new novel coming out later this year!

Room Little Darker

Also a shout-out for June Caldwell’s book Room Little Darker. We think she has the strongest erotic imagination of any writer working in Ireland today. Her stories ‘Leitrim Flip’ and ‘Imp of the Perverse’ were knockouts.

What We Lose

One of our favourite books last year was Zinzi Clemmons’s powerful debut novel What We Lose. Go for the frank examination of sexuality, grief and identity, stay for the polished, beautiful prose.

‘I am a knife’

If you read one thing about the women’s movement as it has been unfolding over the past few months, make it Jacqueline Rose’s piercing essay. While you are at it, have a look at her book Women in Dark Times.
