Last week, Dr. Mondher Cherif, our Chief Scientist, traveled to our nation’s capital on behalf of Tanvas to accept the prestigious Tibbetts Award for Innovation. Mondher represented Tanvas alongside 37 deserving small businesses, five individuals, and three supporting organizations during a White House ceremony.

Named after Roland Tibbetts, who was instrumental in developing the SBIR program, the Tibbetts Awards are presented annually to those who are beacons of promise and models of excellence in high technology.

The Tibbetts award represents the significant advancements made towards commercializing the TanvasTouch technology from our initial SBIR Phase I award. It also highlights the importance of the SBIR program by providing critical funding to deserving companies often too early for investor capital. Mondher was a major contributor to realizing the full potential of the technology and was the most fitting leader to send to Washington. Tanvas joins a wide range of companies in this honor including 23andMe, EnChroma and our neighbors in Evanston, QuesTek Innovations.

It may sound cliché, but we’re very proud to receive this recognition. It’s not often that we can send one of our Chiefs to Washington to bring home the hardware. This new award sits alongside our other recent accolades on a special shelf all its own. After an exciting debut at CES 2017 and bolstered by this award as well as several other recognitions, we are more energized than ever to accelerate our path toward a new touch dimension. For more information about The Tibbetts award, check out our press release (PDF) as well as the official award booklet.
