Danielle’s Bag

What’s in my Bag: Danielle Carruthers

CEO of theSedge.org + Principal/Member of FEW

Question 1: Where do you live? I am from Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Question 2: What is your company? My company is theSedge.org, a peer collaboration network where social mission organizations meet to exchange social enterprise ideas, best practices, and learn how to implement revenue strategies to increase financial self-sustainability. Please connect with us on Facebook or follow theSedge and myself on Twitter.

Question 3: Which item in your bag best represents your business? I would have to say that my trusty notebook best represents my business. This is because although I do try to use online task management tools like Trello, nothing beats a good old fashioned pen and paper to-do list to keep the business on track.

Question 4: If you had to give up everything but one item from your bag, which would you keep and why? My laptop!

Question 5: Who would be the guest of honour at your dinner party and why? Bill Drayton, founder of Ashoka. Over the past 30+ years Ashoka has identified and supported hundreds of social entrepreneurs from all around the world. I would love to have him over to pick his brain and soak up his years of experience and knowledge that I could build on in my career.

Question 6: If you could fit anything in your bag, what would you take with you? I would take my craft box with me (which to me includes everything from my staple gun, scrap fabrics, beading supplies, paints and more). You never know where and when inspiration for a new project will strike!

Question 7: What is one guilty pleasure you enjoy too much to give up?

All things delicious. Chocolate, pizza, ice cream, nachos, beer... to name just a few...
