There’s always been a history associated with any festival. Today in this blog, I’m gonna talk about one such festival, ‘Navratri’, in which the emblem of love, strength and motherhood — ‘Goddess Durga’ is worshipped.

Navratri is a sanskrit word( Nav = nine; Ratri= nights), which means nine nights! Legends say that Maa Durga struggled and fought 9 days and nights in order to kill the demon ‘Mahishasur’, and finally defeated him on the 10th day, which we celebrate as ‘Vijayadashmi’.

This festival has some positive significance, like every celebration. The surrounding changes and begins to generate some strange vibes. These vibes are so good, and cheering that I’ve termed them as ‘external optimism’. Bhajans and kirtans begin, mantras and shloks are chanted, prayers are sung, and above all, it becomes the happiest time for me in the whole year! Obviously, when there’s any festival approaching, you’ll start getting a strange but blissful vibe, and suddenly you’ll feel that your inner soul is getting relaxed(well, this is what I feel these days).

It is also said that every female in this world is a form of Maa Durga. Yes, it’s true! It was the Devi who fought against that demon for several days and finally got victory. It wasn’t just the victory of truth over the evilness. It was the victory(or the commence) of female over the stereotypes, that consider them weak. Maa Durga proved that a woman is able to fight and conquer the world, one she’s determined. A woman is capable of bearing every obstacle, once she learns to hold herself at her all bests and worsts! But still, most part of the society couldn’t couldn’t rise above this thought.

Females have been fighting for their equal rights, at both home and work places. Sometimes, I feel, if festivals, too, support feminism, then why don’t we? Why is a woman, still at some parts, forced to live like a maid? World’s not gonna run if they don’t exist, then why they are being misbehaved, harassed?

Every woman who awakens the courage within herself is Durga.
