Dear Readers,

I’m Amber Discko, founder of Femsplain and lover of building online communities. I promised I’d send one final letter to you, from myself, because I believe it’s important to share how special and necessary Femsplain is for me and so many others.

Whether you’re new or have been here for us since the beginning, I want to thank you. Thank you for sharing our important stories and amplifying the voices of trans/cis women, and gender nonconforming individuals from around the world. Thank you for supporting our writers both financially, with donations and our Kickstarter, and emotionally on social media and beyond.

Even though we are no longer publishing, the Femsplain community lives on. Our stories will still remain for you to read and our accounts across social media will remain active. We will always be amplifying voices where we can, through our weekly Twitter chats and in our Slack community. (Join today!)

To our lovely contributors: We started out with only a handful of beautiful essays from friends, thinking this only would be a fun side project. And that’s the most beautiful part — you found and supported us and said this needs to be more. You came with your stories, both relatable and heartbreaking, and spoke loudly about issues that matter. Together, we published 1,200 essays covering everything from invisible illnesses, politics, racial inequality and BLACK LIVES MATTER, queerness and gender and living and breathing as our truest selves, mental health awareness, loving our disabilities, self care and loving our bodies (especially bodies without privilege) and ourselves, sex and sex positivity (INCLUDING SEX WORKERS), friendship and heartbreak and death, but so much life.

We shared our stories with the hope they could help someone else too.

We Femsplain’d.

Reminder: We are moving our focus from Femsplain to Aloe and building tools to help you grow.

P.S. If you’re someone who wants to contribute to the development of the Aloe community please get in touch! 💌 hi@aloe.club

(Especially if you’re someone who can help with fundraising efforts for our mobile app in development, or enjoy copywriting!)
