Writer’s Block

The flow state is elusive, whether in writing, sports, or any other pursuit. When putting pen to paper it often seems distant, if not impossible. It’s not always enough to simply show up. Sometimes I hit the mark. Sometimes I suffer, wading through a form of purgatory. Sometimes I fight it, dull it, or (attempt to) fuel it with a bottle. But almost always a long drive beneath free skies unlocks the gates and let’s the dogs run free for awhile, scaring up new ideas or words wanting an audience.
