Step 1

IMPORTANT: Make sure you back up your wallet before making any transactions so you know your assets are always secure!

Go to ‘Wallets & backups’ and click ‘Back up keys’

Step 2

Now you’re greeted with three backup types — it is recommended to perform all types of backups on this list ensure maximum security.

To start off, click on the first option, ‘Unifyre + Google Drive’. This option securely backs up parts of your private keys to both Unifyre and your own Google Drive. Proceed with signing in with your Google account and perform the backup.

Note: Neither data on Unifyre servers, nor data on Google server alone is enough to reconstruct the keys. You need access to both systems to access your secrets. It is extremely secure, yet an easy way to back up your keys.

Note on Google Cloud + UniFyre Wallet Security

The Google Cloud + UniFyre Wallet is a simple yet extremely secure way to protect your private keys. Here’s how it works.

The key is broken in two parts. One stored on Unifyre servers (and should be protected with 2FA), another part is stored on the user’s Google Drive.

This means you are protected by 3 layers of security: 1) your Google account; 2) your UniFyre account; 3) your 2FA (Google Authenticator). In addition, a user can lock their Unifyre account at any time if they believe their Google account has been compromised.

In sum, this is an excellent method to securely back up your keys, as it is extremely secure and enables near-instant account restoration.

Step 3

The next security option is to use security phrases. Once you select this option you will be greeted with a list of words in a sequence which you need to write on a secured piece of paper (it is suggested to keep the phrase offline) and verify the sequence to perform the back up.

Step 4

Once you back up your words on a single sheet of paper, it is recommended that you do it again on another sheet of paper. This provides an additional layer of security in case you lose the first sheet.
