Fetch.AI is pleased to be named a Steward of the Sovrin Network. As a Steward, Fetch.AI will be a trusted operator of a Sovrin validator node and alongside IBM, Cisco, Deutsche Telekom and many others, will contribute to delivering Sovrin’s identity network.

On the 28 March, Outlier Ventures, in conjunction with Fetch.AI and Sovrin, unveiled ANVIL: an example development in their Convergence Stack that shows how Fetch.AI and Sovrin can be easily connected. With ANVIL, Fetch.AI’s autonomous agents benefit from Sovrin’s self-sovereign identity and machine-readable technology that can verify claims made against that identity. Such integrations demonstrate real-world deployments, enabling Fetch.AI agents to search, negotiate and trade based on provable trust, all without leaking unnecessary information.

Fetch.AI Chief Technology Officer Toby Simpson said, “We’re incredibly excited to be a Sovrin Steward. As a trusted operator of a node on their network, we get the chance to further understand and integrate machine identity into Fetch.AI. Outlier’s ANVIL layer shows how easy this can be: just six lines of code for one agent to prove another is entitled to provide its service. As this technology develops, agents will be able to interact more and more with each other in a demonstrably trustworthy environment, all of which helps deliver this economic Internet of the future. Both businesses and consumers will benefit from the things in the world being able to prove key aspects about themselves.”

Fetch.AI and Sovrin share a common ambition to return control of identity, and the credentials associated with it, to the individual, away from centralised points-of-failure. They believe this can be achieved without the need for human intervention. This “self-sovereign” identity applies to both humans and, in the case of Fetch.AI, digital entities too. Such technologies remove friction from the economy, thereby increasing efficiency and robustness. Fetch.AI delivers trust and reputation information on many levels based on an agent’s activity over time. Verifiable claims and credentials, such as those provided by Sovrin, take this one step further. They will enable Fetch.AI agents to prove they are qualified to interact, with the agents adjusting what they deliver depending on another agent’s credentials.

Sovrin Software Architect and Open Standards Engineer Ken Ebert said: “The Sovrin Foundation is thrilled to have Fetch.AI become a Steward. The Fetch.AI solution will allow intelligent machine agents to become trusted participants within the Sovrin ecosystem. I was pleasantly surprised at how easily Outlier’s ANVIL stack was able to integrate our decentralized identity solution with Fetch.AI’s system of intelligent agents.”

When the Sovrin Network launched in July 2017, the network began with 10 Stewards. Since then, nearly 70 organisations around the world have been named as Stewards by the Foundation. As the latest company to be named a Steward, Fetch.AI is looking forward to working closely with Sovrin to develop the machine-to-machine economy of the future.

About Fetch.AI
Fetch.AI delivers a groundbreaking economic internet that enables emergent solutions to complex problems. It does this by enabling the deployment of multi-agent systems over a decentralised network and provides tools to enable the construction of intelligent agents. Fetch.AI delivers a unique, decentralised digital world that adapts in real-time to enable effective, friction-free value exchange. Powered by innovations such as the smart ledger, Fetch.AI has digital intelligence at its heart: delivering actionable predictions, instant trust information, enabling the construction of powerful collaborative models, improving efficiencies and streamlining processes.

About Sovrin
The Sovrin Foundation is a nonprofit organization established to administer the Governance Framework governing the Sovrin Network, a decentralized global public network enabling self-sovereign identity on the internet. The Sovrin Network is an open source project operated by independent Stewards and uses the power of a distributed ledger to give every person, organization, and thing the ability to own and control their own permanent digital identity.
