The team at Fetch.AI continues to grow. Today we’re pleased to announce Patrick Olden has joined us as a Blockchain Research Engineer.

Patrick has an undergraduate degree in Astrophysics from the University of St Andrews in Scotland and postgraduate degrees in Economics from the University of Cambridge and the Paris School of Economics (EHESS, ENS, Sorbonne). His research focused on mechanism design and platform economics. He has also worked on applying mechanism design to development finance, winning an award from the World Bank for designing a novel micro-financial product in 2013.

Following the completion of his studies, Patrick has worked in a number of startups as a software engineer and data scientist. He has worked in both biostatistics and financial technology; building distributed machine learning systems and contributing core IP to many of these projects.

Patrick’s combined background in economics and machine learning will be an asset at Fetch.AI. He is going to be focusing his attention on the consensus algorithms which provide the security that the Fetch ledger requires to operate effectively. Patrick will also provide an economic and game-theoretic perspective on projects across the company.
